[As you can see, we’re a bit behind in the Dog Blog Challenge – I’ll be posting a couple posts a day to catch up, or so is the hope]

I’ve lived in a fair number of places over the years – Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, China, Japan. Choppy, however, has only lived in one house in one city her entire life with me: Terre Haute, Indiana.

Choppy came from the Terre Haute Humane Society, and only a few months after I moved to my house, she joined me. We live on a park (Collett Park), and our neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (our house will turn 100 next year – which is not old for our readers in Europe, but is very old for Indiana). Her life is pretty similar every day, and she seems pretty content. When we’re at home, she sees the same people, she eats an absurd number of treats, and she travels familiar paths on our walks and in the backyard.

Choppy in the park - this was not recent. But no one wants to see pictures of snow.

That said, she has been all over the U.S. and Canada. I love to travel, and I like to have her with me when I do so. So she is a well-traveled dog, even if she has had a very settled and mundane home life over the course of her nearly six years.

Things are about to change for Choppy, though – we’re about to move to Wisconsin.

I’ve already started a new job, and we’re hoping to get an apartment up there this week. While Choppy has spent more time in Wisconsin than any state other than Indiana, it is still going to be a big change for her (especially because we likely won’t be in a house again for several months). Choppy is easy-going, so I am sure she will handle the change well, but it is still somewhat of a worry for me.

Hello, Wisconsin.
Hello, Wisconsin.

In the meantime, before we fully move up to Wisconsin, we’ll enjoy the city where Choppy has lived her whole life – and get excited about the new chapter of life we’re about to begin.
