A few months ago, Anabel at The Glasgow Gallivanter had several posts on her trip to Denver. I was fascinated by one piece of art she showed off in this post in particular – a giant, blue bear statue called I See What You Mean.
Despite my fascination with this piece, when Paul and I went to Colorado, I didn’t make plans to see it. And then, when I woke up for my walk the first morning, I stepped outside our hotel, to find out we were staying across the street from the piece I had so admired! It was a fantastic coincidence and one I captured in a picture that is taken from a remarkably similar angle to the one in Anabel’s post.
For more of our travel writing, check out our 101 Travel Bits series – soon to come, Key West (hopefully in the next week or so)!
Thanks for the mention! Glad you liked the bear too.

I only wish the building had been open so I could see it from the inside out!

We have a springing red hare suspended by cables in the International Terminal of our airport. We gotta get these two together. That really easy pretty cool. :O)

Unfortunately, they might not get along very well, in which case we’d have a large and serious problem on our hands!

In this case perhaps you’re right. Cross breading is probably not a good idea—given their size!

Cross breeding something blue & red would give purple or lilac off spring………”Hare-Bears?” “Bear-Hares?” “Harey-Bearys?”

I love art that makes me smile. I think “art” was too serious for too long.

I’m not surprised he is so tall – he is looking into a second story there.

Love seeing the hometown through other’s eyes. Puts the shine back on it and makes it beautiful once again :-).

It is – if you ever get to Denver and are walking around downtown, it’s definitely worth a stop to snap a pic!

Oh I love that. I have one skinny giraffe on my front lawn and am always in the look out for more, “affordable” animal sculptures to add. I’d love this bear. So clever. 🙂

You’re going to need a big yard – he is very tall!

He’d fit right in next to our huge oak trees. BTW: we have bears here in Ojai. Not many but they do come down and also in some of the neighboring cities. With the drought wildlife search out water areas, like swimming pools.

We don’t get many bears around here – there are a couple by my parents who get spotted sometimes, but there aren’t so many that they are in the garbage and bird feeders, like they are if you go an hour or two north of here.

This kind of thing really happens in bear country. 😉

Ah yes, the iconic Big Blue Bear. I hope you managed to purchase a miniature version for your desk. No lawyer’s office should be without one…at least it seems that way in Denver. ☺️

I didn’t even see one – then again, I don’t think I actually went into any stores (a good way to keep from buying things I will wonder why I bought when I get home!).

I should have done that! If Choppy had been there, I definitely wouldn’t have forgotten to get a picture of her with it.

What are the chances that out of all places to stay and visit in Colorado that you’d be right there where the bear is?! Truly a coincidence 😄
