Today is World Snake Day – I don’t think these two are celebrating in the way intended.

I agree, Choppy! No hissing at me, even if it is a cranky woman in line at the grocery store!

Now that is a truly scary creature – again, one not to be trusted. It really is the hissing!

What a nice hug for snakies tail! Make the snake wiggle out from behind a door…I’ll bet Schooner pounces on it 😂

I am sure any snakes to find their way into our house would meet a quick end at the wrong end of Schooner’s claws (it’s what happens to all the bugs in here as well).

Good catch with Schooner wrapped around the snake like that. Turned out super cute! 🙂

He isn’t ready for clothing, but he can be counted on to grab on to anything soft/toy-like.

Oh, I don’t like snakes! We live close to a creek and on occasion they visit our backyard, I am thankful Roxy finds them and alarms us of their presence!

Choppy has never, ever seen a snake! We were once on a walk where I saw one with every step I took (it ended up being a short walk, because it was the thing of nightmares), and she didn’t seem to see any of them. The dog we had growing up was the same – unless we specifically pointed one out to them, it was like he couldn’t see them. We suspect they don’t have any smell. I am impressed Roxy finds them!

I think she must smell them. And when she finds them, she will get close to them and just bark. I know the bark, it is very different from the barking at people or squirrels or possums.

Interesting. I think the first dog my parents had would find snakes as well.
As for the different barks, I’m amazed at all the ones Choppy has. We’ve even given different barks different names (like her ‘big girl bark’).
