Welcome to this year’s April A to Z Challenge! During April, from Monday to Saturday, I’ll be posting a picture of Choppy (and if I can get him to pose, Schooner). Each day will be a different letter of the alphabet, until we’ve gone from A to Z. You can get links to all the entries from last year’s challenge here. And don’t worry, I’m coming up with all new material this year, even if some of the letters are more than slightly difficult (I’m looking at you, I and X).
Thankfully, A is an easy one:

As you can see from the following picture, the cat was not quite as cooperative:

Great example and am excited to see your alphabet challenge met, Sarah

Thanks! I had a grand idea to plan and get ready all year long for this year’s challenge. I made a spreadsheet, noted what I had done last year, and was all set to go.
I took these pictures this morning. So, you can see where the plan went.

I am just hoping that the cat doesn’t scratch me to death by the end of this.

A well-trained, biddable dog is always easier to handle than a… hang on a minute… who ever heard of a well-trained, biddable cat?
Yeah – I’m not a cat person.

He is horrible. Though he makes me value Choppy more on a daily basis.

I don’t know if either of our dogs would tolerate being dressed up. Trevor hates the coats we got him for winter and resists his harness (which I prefer to a collar when walking, as I never wanted to strangle him — well, not often, anyway); and it has taken three weeks to get Eos not to run for cover when I approach with her lead, even though she loves her walks.

Choppy has the opposite problem! I know, you’re shocked, having seen the blog. She gets excited when I go down to her clothing tubs, and she is great with putting on the harness (which I much prefer to her leash/collar combination!). That said, the dog I grew up with would probably have drawn blood had you tried to dress him in clothing, so I have seen both sides of this particular coin!

Awesome! Such great pictures, Sarah! I really had to laugh about Schooner trying to eat the boppers! 😀

Thank you! And he tries to eat everything. He may think he is a dog.

Schooner is still learning about costumes and such. He’ll be on board soon…
Love and licks,

This is my hope. In the meantime, I must be craftier about how I go about the process. I have an idea for tomorrow that might work.

You got Schooner to sit still long enough for this picture! You are definitely magic with the animals, magic I say. lol

It was the briefest period of stillness. He is still a work in progress to my mind!

I couldn’t find it – do you have a picture of it somewhere on the blog?

I was going to say I was surprised that Schooner wasn’t trying to play with the bobbers on Choppy’s head, when I read that he was trying to eat the ones on his own head. Great picture. Love the caption on the bottom picture. It made me literally laugh out loud.

If he hadn’t had his own, he definitely would have been after Choppy’s – it’s always playtime for a kitten!
And I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

I’m visiting from the A-Z signup page as you are one of the 5 blogs after my number to follow…I’m so glad!! This is adorable and hilarious! That’s a great picture of Schooner! I can’t imagine the self restraint it took for him to not play with the boppers. His face is so sly, did he turn around and grab it after the picture? hehe

Welcome! Thanks for dropping by – and there really wasn’t much self-restraint. Just enough so I could grab a very, very quick picture!
I’m going to head over to your blog shortly – can’t wait to see it!

hahahahaaha I could see in his face that he was ready to turn and pounce! 🙂

Dogs are always way more co-operative than cats. Look forward to seeing how this progresses lol And even though you took the pictures at the last minute I hope having the plan in place will help. Last year was my first year and I totally winged it most days. This year I’m more prepared but still have work to do.

I have been working on the plan. I think we’ll be pretty good through the beginning of this coming week. After that, all bets are currently off!

The dog I had growing up would never have stood for clothing! Choppy just has the patience of a saint.
