It’s a serene Sunday here in Wisconsin (no random pictures of obscene boats or strange warnings on peanuts). The picture and video are from the Glacial Drumlin Trail, just outside of Lake Mills. It’s a multi-use trail, which we were using for a dog walk. It’s mostly a bike trail in summer, and snowmobiles in winter. Paul, Choppy and I took a walk on a different section of the same trail a couple weeks ago.
The walk was also interrupted by a lot of blackbirds (I think it’s a mix of Redwinged Blackbirds, starlings and grackles, but if anyone knows better, let me know – the only ones I can tell for sure are the Blackbirds).

It was absolutely amazing – I was just surrounded by them. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like that from so close and all around.

Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I couldn’t see the birds, but at least some of them sounded like Starlings.

I’m pretty sure some were – the problem with the iPhone video is that it doesn’t come out too well. And I didn’t think anything that exciting would happen, so I didn’t have the good video camera with me!

There were a lot of red-wing blackbirds that I could hear.

Those ones I knew – they have such a nice, distinct voice. I am sure there were others – some starlings for sure. Usually we have grackles around, so I am guessing there were some of those, too.

Beautiful scene, what are those birds called? A variation of heron’s or terns?! You know I spy birds everywhere, even in their surroundings. Smiles for you and the sweet pets, Sarah.
