Move Part I is complete! And, as of this morning, there is a (very small and temporary) fence that may or may not prevent Choppy from getting in the pond and river behind the house. Choppy now has the run of the backyard. The chipmunks are not happy.
Here is Choppy going into the backyard for the first time. I think she is a little overwhelmed with her sudden good fortune. There’s a lot of yard to check out. And pee on. You know, whatever strikes your fancy.Choppy – thwarted by the fence and unable to get to the pond. If you can even see the fence…(so, maybe not so much thwarted as deterred. For the moment).Choppy, not surveying her new domain (probably because she thinks I am going to give her a treat, so it is best to face my direction rather than that of the backyard).
May I just say, that’s quite the amazing (and huge) back yard there. Choppy should indeed be a happy pooch as she now gets to roam the great outdoors. I’m sure she won’t even mind that little fence… 😉
It sounds wonderful. Heres to you and Choppy finding lots of great things on your explorations (mind the various critters tho, would hate to read youd stumbled upon anything dangerous)
We don’t – the mowed part is actually rather small (thankfully). That said, we’ll see how long it takes before we either get the riding mower or hire someone else to take care of this place!
Wow, C! That is SOME backyard! It looks like the park near my house. You’d better drink lots of water so you can outline the area with warning peemails.
It is rather park-like! I’m looking forward to getting a canoe or a kayak and being able to take some trips on the river. I’m not sure how Choppy will like the canoe, but she’ll get used to it (I hope!).
Yes! I am sure they would appreciate it (though based on Choppy’s animal-catching record, they probably don’t need a warning, as she isn’t going to catch any of them!).
Thank you! For now, it’s nice to just enjoy it. Starting soon, we have to start dealing with all the little things I want to change. But I think that can wait until after we’re all moved in!
I don’t think Choppy can believe her good fortune – she went out there last night for 30 minutes, just enjoying it (I kind of forgot she was out there, she was out so long!).

It is a great backyard – and having the river there only means it’s that much larger, because we have a long ways to explore beyond what we own!

I hope all of the potentially dangerous creatures give us a wide berth!

It really is – she is actually sitting by the back door right now, listening to the raccoons waking up and the herons going to bed.

Great ‘yard’. Have you got a sit on mower yet? 🙂

I did actually snap a pic of her making her mark. I spared you all the picture, but apparently not the comment about said picture.

Thank you – it is maybe the thing I like best about the new house (though the beautiful kitchen is definitely high on the list!).

I’m more worried about how easily she can hide from me back there! I get the feeling she might get purposely lost!

She does love it – and the chipmunks will quickly realize slow Choppy is not much of a threat.
