[Warm weather posts to come later this week – things are busy at the job that pays me. Probably because I took a week off, and things at work did not. Hopefully Tuesday night I will get a chance to do some writing for the blog. In the meantime, something short and fun!]

This week marks an anniversary: six years ago, I brought Choppy home from the Terre Haute Humane Society, and so was born a crazy dog lady.

The actual date this happened is somewhat murky (and not because of alcohol). I picked out Choppy on February 28, but I didn’t pick her up for several days because the policy at the humane society was to have any dog or cat leaving the shelter spayed or neutered prior to allowing them to go to their new home. So, Choppy has more of a “Gotcha Week” than a “Gotcha Day” to celebrate the day I got her.

As someone who regularly celebrates her birthday as a month-long event, I can’t say I disapprove of this.

Happy Gotcha Week, Choppy! I’ll never forget that day when I put you on the front seat of my car to take you to your forever home. You were a fluffy bundle of adorableness, and I couldn’t wait to start our lives together.

And then, as I started the car, you promptly peed all over said front seat.

I can’t say I was so excited after that.
