Choppy’s life is full of things she loves – like all happy dogs, she approaches life with lots of enthusiasm (this short article from The Onion pretty much encapsulates Choppy’s general feelings toward life). I’m not even going to attempt to pick the three things she loves most in life, but here are three random things Choppy loves:

1. Treats

OK, I know I just said that I wasn’t going to pick the three things she loves most in life, but I’m pretty sure that if I made that attempt, treats would be very high on that list (if not right at the top). This topic has been covered extensively on the blog before, so I won’t belabor it. Instead, I’ll post a cute picture of Choppy.

Choppy only puts up with this because she gets the treat at the end.

2. Chasing Squirrels

When she was a puppy, Choppy pretty much ignored the animals in our backyard. As she got older, they started to hold more attraction for her, and eventually, they became a source of joy to her – at least, the chasing of those animals became a source of joy. She enthusiastically chases squirrels, possums, or whatever animal decides it should wander around our backyard. On our walks, she tugs at squirrels, hoping I’ll briefly let her off of her leash to chase the hundreds of squirrels that populate the park on which we live. As you’ll see in tomorrow’s Dog Blog Challenge post, though, it’s the chasing of the squirrels that she likes – not necessarily the squirrels themselves!

The blur that is Choppy when chasing squirrels (or maybe not - I'm pretty sure she's just a blur because I am horrible at taking pictures. She's not that fast).

3. Walks

Twice a day, Choppy and I head out for a walk. Hours before our afternoon walk, she shows up in my office, waiting for me to be ready to go (and/or making her presence known so that I won’t forget to walk her). Of course, it could just be that she knows she gets a treat when we come back from our walk (and often gets a couple on the walk from various people who are in the park), so perhaps this should be filed under the “Treat” category.

Then again, perhaps she likes the walks because they so often afford her the chance to look at and chase squirrels.
