For a dog who has spent a significant portion of her life on the road, Choppy is not always the happiest camper when she is away.

Actually, I’m pretty sure most of the time we are on the road, she would rather be home. Or at my parents’ house, which I am pretty sure she views as her second home (because all dogs need a vacation place…).

It’s not that she doesn’t like the places we go – she loves going for hikes and I’m pretty sure she loves getting her own hotel bed (when we aren’t camping, which she definitely does not like). She gets to bark at exotic animals (or squirrels in parks that aren’t her own). Ever since she figured out that the waves weren’t going to hurt her, she is all about the ocean (OK, maybe not “all about the ocean,” but she’s fine with it).

This is a long way to say that I’m pretty sure Choppy’s favorite place to vacation is at home. She’s a staycation kind of dog.
