October is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, and I thought I should do at least a quick post on Choppy coming from my local shelter (though mostly, I wanted an excuse to post a cute picture of Choppy as a puppy). It’s been over five years since I headed to the shelter and found a little dog called Maddie – Choppy’s original, shelter name – and brought her home a few days later.
So what is the significance of the number 10 with regard to Choppy’s time at the shelter? Two things: first, it was how many weeks old she was when she arrived there (though she was about 12 weeks when I adopted her). Also? It’s the number of the kennel where I found her, which you can see to the left in this picture:

Obviously, my trip to the shelter worked out for me – and if you’re looking for a dog, I highly recommend a shelter dog. And Choppy concurs.

She really was/is a cute doggie. If we’ll ever get another doggie after our Sally went over the rainbow bridge, it will definitely be a shelter dog.
Enjoy your day,
Pit

I love her – though I never thought she would grow up to look like she does. She was really a fluff ball as a puppy, and now she has such short hair. It’s an added bonus if you get a shelter puppy: the big surprise as to how the dog turns out!

She really was! I have to remember to look at the puppy pictures when she is doing something I would rather not have her do.

She was a cutie!! We adopted my dog Frieda from the shelter as a adult (she kinda looks like Choppy a bit) and I always wished I could’ve seen her as a puppy because I bet she was just too cute. Love the Choppy pics and posts!

We got the dog we had as kids when he was a little older from the shelter (still a puppy, but not the itty-bitty kind – the getting in trouble a lot kind). I always wondered what he looked like, too!
