You’re getting a classic shot today for Paul Bunyan Day (because Schooner still won’t let me dress him up as Babe the Blue Ox).

Schooner looks acutely aware of that axe though. Watch your back, buddy. 😃

He’s wily – I doubt Choppy would be fast enough to get him with it.

Hahaha! That’s a good point. 😃

Gotta say, that I am on Schooner’s side… although, being a blue ox would suit him better than being pretty in pink (just sayin’ Schooner, old buddy, old pal)

Good point – better blue than those pink sunglasses again!

Being unabashedly foreign and being somewhat of a novice in all things American I had to look this fellow up. All I can say is that Choppy has triumphed in her seriously lunberjacktick pose and costume and that Schooner is at least effecting an ox-like stern-ness of expression!!!

I forget that others wouldn’t know the story of Paul Bunyan and Babe – I grew up hearing it (and seeing some larger than life statues), so it just seems like something everyone would know.

When I first glanced I read John Bunyan which opened up all sorts of possibilities in my mind. None of them would have appealed to Schooner, I think that’s certain!!!

Can’t be too bad, looks like Schooner’s tail is wagging. 😉 Plaid looks good on Choppy.

He was probably excited about getting to attack something as part of a photo shoot!

Choppy with a beard is, again, so funny! I think Schooner is wise not to want to look like Babe the Ox….or any animal but himself.

I will never, ever get tired of seeing Choppy in a beard. I should really procure more of them for her.

When we were little and would visit my Aunt and Uncle in Northern California we always stopped to see the redwoods. at the Trees of Mystery center. They had an enormous Paul Bunyon and Babe at the entrance and my brother would point and yell “Tall Onion! Tall Onion!”. Good memories.

Tall Onion – love it! You know, I never think of Paul Bunyan as anything but an Upper Midwestern thing (at least as far as where he lived), even though I know better.

It still amazes me how you keep Choppy and Schooner so still and to get them to look directly into the camera lens with a perfect expression.

It’s pretty much an illusion (at least when it comes to Schooner) – I snap as many pics as possible and hope for the best. With Choppy, though, she will sit through anything I ask her to. She’s a pro.

In Schooner’s head I can hear him mutter something about wanting a sharp axe the size he can pick up and swing…

I’m glad I’m not the only one who hears that coming from him.

I think Schooner would make an awesome Babe the Blue Ox.

Right?! Now I just need to convince him that costumes are OK.

She looks good all the same 🙂 She would however look good as “Babe the Blue Ox”
Cheers
