Choppy got it worse yesterday – I don’t know what happened because I didn’t see it, but I heard a tussle on our stairs and Choppy came out of it looking sad and with a couple scratches.
My Maine coon cat and our last dog used to get into fights occasionally and it was so scary (thinking big vet bill), but somehow they would both walk away with the air cleared. It was like humans having an argument, I guess.
The one thing he will (sometimes) put up with is something around his neck. Note, this doesn’t include a collar, because he will only wear something around his neck temporarily.
Most Kitties do not enjoy clothes or decorations over their already beautiful fur….I’ll bet that white tail tip was twitching before the claws came out.
It won’t be the first or last time Schooner gets me, I’m sure (and yet, I will not stop attempting to dress him up – one of these days, he will fully cooperate).
My biological daughter’s Mom through adoption is Native Hawaiian. My daughter is a six foot one German/English/Swedish/Polish redhead, who speaks fluent Hawaiian. That does garner some looks (and yes, we’ve met at age 18 as her parents agreed on that when they adopted her if she wanted it).
You’re a true Van Gogh, with Schooner’s help. It looks like he calms down quickly though. Either that, or you use high shutter speeds. LOL They are both adorable and very Hawaiian.
Not so much high shutter speeds (I use my phone), but I’ve perfected the art of the quick picture – and dangling things in front of his face to distract him from attempts to get the lei off.
I’ve travelled to Oahu some thirty years ago, and I have still hanging the old, dried Lei I’ve brought from there. 😉

Nice! The only lei I kept from my trip to Hawaii a couple years ago was a crocheted one.

Oh, dear, hope the lacerations aren’t too serious. Cats are VERY independent. 😉 Don’t forget the Bacitracin.

I saw Choppy walk away from a potential tiff this morning. I’m hopeful she is figuring out when Schooner is in a mood and attempting to avoid it.

Whoops! Schooner seems pretty calm in the photo but something tells me it wasn’t always this way. You are so dedicated, Sarah!

I wish there were more reasons to wear a lei in my every day life – they would really add a lot of fun to daily life!

Aloha. Here’s hoping the rest of your Lei Day (Hawaii’s May Day celebration) gets better.

I love that – a redheaded Hawaiian. Not what you expect, but the unexpected makes life fun!

Love seeing Schooner dressed up, too! I was going to say cooperate, but sounds like that didn’t happen. Hope your scratches are better!

This is more cooperation than some days (when I just give up!).
