Howlidays: Chinese Language Day

Happy Chinese Language Day! Way back when, I did my study abroad in China. Back then, I would have been able to celebrate it much more thoroughly – now, my Chinese language skills are very rusty!
That’s okay, Schooner.. neither do I, so it looks Greek to me, actually. 🙂

My dad’s family is Greek – and yet, the Chinese is easier for me. I wonder how that adage applies to me, then…I guess the same!

Sassy June lived with us for about a year before I figured out she couldn’t understand me.
Chow and Husky, I had to learn Russian.
Her predecessor was even worse. He was Chow and Akita, but had a Mexican name.
Luckily, he spoke Spanish (though it was with a Japanese accent).
Fortunately, I knew enough Spanish to get by.

I don’t read Chinese either, but I’m guessing at least one of those symbols is for Bacon! 😀

You’re right Schooner, but she sure writes pretty. But Choppy, where are all the capital letters? 😀

Chinese? Yes. Punctuation and Capitalization? Nope.

That’s impressive Choppy. I wish I could speak, read and write in Chinese.

Bilingual Choppy!! So is Schooner a good cat? 😂

He hasn’t had a chance to prove himself a good cat yet (though Choppy has caught a few mice over the years).

It was great – though I’ve been told I would not recognize Beijing today, it’s so different than it was when I was there. I’d love to make a return trip and see it for myself.

Cute. I think it says, “Will trade the cat for a pound of bacon.” LOL

She’d probably accept that trade for even less than a full pound of bacon.
