This week brought a very, very welcome sight at our house. On Wednesday, we had our first crocus bloom! It may still be colder than I like and sometimes a little dreary, but spring must be here if the flowers are out (Or, as the case may be, the flower is out – because it’s the only one that is so far).
Off Topic: Welcome Back Spring!

I’s a start…

Hurrah! We are beginning to see daffodils in the park, and tulips may soon follow. No crocuses though.

We’re still a ways away from the daffodils – even this crocus seems brave compared to its not-really-close-to-blooming friends.

We have tiny bulb leaves reaching up from the soil …. so hopefully they know what they are doing! 🙂

I’m hoping they know what they’re doing, too – I think this one got a little ahead of itself. I’m not complaining, though!

So pretty! If I were you…I’d gently remove some of the wood chips….piece by piece…no raking…that’s very heavy ‘mulch’ for little flowers. Hope you see more, soon….and they should multiply in years to come!

I’ll definitely take your advice – I want to encourage them as much as possible!

🙂 do it asap….interestingly, I don’t see honey bees on the white crocuses…but I do on the lilac striped ones!

At least it’s trying to be here (I’m ignoring all future predicted cold and snow).

We went to see Paul’s family for Easter and it snowed several inches – and they live somewhere much warmer than us!

And so it begins!
I am ready . . .

I am VERY ready myself!

So ready for spring. But here in Iowa, Easter brings freezing rain, snow and highs in the upper 30’s? I hope my little shoots make it through.

That’s pretty much what we’ll have. I’m not sure this poor crocus thought about what it was getting into with Wisconsin weather.

You can put a small (plant) pot upsidedown over crocus, or other bulbs, if snow is expected & you want to protect them

We’re snow-less – at least until the end of the week. But I will get the pots ready!

Very pretty! Glad you have a peek of Spring. We have lots of our spring flowers bloom already – tulips, crocus, daffodils, periwinkle, etc. I even found a Spring Beauty a couple of days ago.

Lucky! We went to Pennsylvania for Easter with Paul’s family and it was like being transported to spring…until they got several inches of snow to bury the daffodils and other flowers.

It snowed in Pennsylvania as well (where we were for Easter). We have snow in our forecast for today and tonight. It is definitely not spring-like!

Paul and I have been in Pennsylvania with his family over the weekend – it was like spring here, until they got several inches of snow!

We have a hyacinth that tried to “get going” but the weather hasn’t cooperated. All the trees and plants are struggling to find their way so far. I just saw we may get 5-8 inches of snow in a couple of days. Does look like Spring is in sight in a week or so…but at least one more week of Winter-like conditions. Crazy.

Ugh! Sounds like here – next week is looking more spring-like (not warm, just more like spring).
