Weekend Wildlife: Snow Bird

Lovely wee bird, and a nice touch of colour in the shot. 😀

They are such pretty guys – we have a lot around the house. I never mind seeing their little pops of color at the feeders.

They are cuties – we have a bunch. The females aren’t quite so bright, but they do have their fancy little crests (not quite cockatoos or cockatiels, but we take what we can get on the bird front).

We get Cardinals in our back garden as well. They look beautiful with the snow and some cedars greenery as a background!

I never get tired of them! My favorite is the rare time we get a cardinal, blue jay, goldfinch, and oriole at the feeders – it’s a rainbow of colors when that happens.

Oh yes …… Baltimore Orioles. So pretty! 🙂

I love their voice as well – this last year we had a lot at our feeders, and you could sit out on our deck and listen to them. I’m already looking forward to more of it this year.

Oh how I love those little birds!

It’s hard not to enjoy them (though growing up, my cockatiel would imitate their song – very loudly and at a very early hour. This was not so pleasant).

Ah yes, having had one myself, I can underscore the fact that cockatiels always manage to imitate the most annoying sound at twice the decibels. LOL

I think ours are getting worse – and they seem to be growing in number.

I think I would miss them if I lived somewhere without them. They are great little birds.

Wow. You have a lot of snow! Glad our temperatures were warm here, or we would have been snowed under – lots of rain. Those pesky squirrels can be, well, pesky.

We didn’t, up until we were in Florida. Then we got slammed. Not exactly the best surprise to return home from vacation to find!

Oh gosh, what a beautiful spot of color in all that snow. Wish we had cardinals here. Yes, I can almost guarantee the neighborhood hoodlums (aka squirrels) are responsible for the absent bird feeder.

The other main suspect gets off the hook these days because they’re typically hidden away until it warms up (our raccoons).

You mean ‘chubby’ squirrels? 😁

Chubby squirrels wearing masks (apparently, they don’t want people to think they are squirrels).

My daughter sent me a photo of a rare, yellow cardinal, yesterday!

A yellow cardinal? I didn’t even know such things existed!
