On our Saturday morning walk, Choppy and I headed to see a local memorial for all of the K9s who aid our local police officers as they go about their duties. It isn’t a huge memorial, but it is so nice that our community has something to commemorate the work these pups put in to help keep us safe.
Here’s an article from when it was dedicated, if you’re interested in learning more about the memorial.

Nice article.

It’s a dog-friendly little city – we have a huge dog park, and lots of other great places to walk dogs. I can’t complain!

I love that and I love your community for remembering the canines that serve.

It is great that people around here appreciate the four-legged members of the force.

It is nice of you to go to this memorial for dogs. Regardless, they risk lives for our safety. Bless your kind heart & Choppy’s too.

I had passed it a lot before, but this was the first time we walked there and checked it out. I’m so glad we did.

It’s great they have a memorial for the service dogs and lovely to see Choppy pose by it. Reminds me of your older posts, when you and Choppy travelled all over the country – when I first started following you a few years ago! 🙂

Ah, the old days! Now, I just have to come up with money to travel like that again…I’m going to work on doing more travel posts, even if the travels don’t take us too far from home.

I’m so glad I found the article to go with this – the memorial alone was nice, but it’s even better to hear about how it came about.

It’s right on the main street through downtown, so everyone gets to see that these officers are remembered here.

A thoughtful tribute! They deserve it for what they have done and contributed to the humans. And, hey, looks like Choppy agrees too 😉

It is – and it’s right across the street from the library, so I can easily visit it on my library trips!

I like that this monument has the specific names of the dogs – it makes it more personal to remember each one.

Gorgeous statue! We have one near us that honors the dogs who worked over at the 9/11 site. They are special doggies.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

The dog on the memorial looks like Jerry Lee, the four-legged star of the movie “K-9”. I love that movie! 🙂
