It turns out, the elk at Rocky Mountain National Park are like the deer we have at home – if you see one crossing the road…
…watch out for the ones who follow!

The one at the front looks as though he is wearing knee high socks!!

So cool to have wild turkey’s, mooses and elks trotting about.

It really was – it definitely helps you realize you’re not at home any more (except those turkeys).

Wow, this really is amazing. So glad the other vehicle got stopped on this blind corner. Otherwise it would not have been very good.
Thank you for sharing! 🙂

It would have been very bad for all involved – those elk are not small!

They are really massive.. Look to be taller than the car.

Photographer is ever at the ready for a wildlife shot! There are way too many accidents every year involving Moose, Elk & Deer…who tend to bolt across roads…especially during mating season, which is approaching…if people just slowed down….there would be so many accidents & injuries prevented.

We only have deer here at home, but it’s amazing how many dead ones you see by the side of the road – and you’re right, this is the prime season for hitting them (or, as usually happens here, the deer runs right into the side of the car – a couple years ago, I saw one nearly run into the side of a bicyclist who was just ahead of me in my car. We both stopped as the deer ran off, and we both say, “did you just see that?” because it did not seem real).

Gosh, they’re big!

Definitely not the sort of thing you want to accidentally hit with a car. We have a small herd here in Wisconsin, but it’s nowhere near us. So for now, I just have to avoid the much smaller deer.

Elk…like deer with big attitudes.

Big/bad attitudes, from what I’ve heard!

Most assuredly. They will definitely leave a mark if they ever collide with you.
