We needed a turkey crossing sign this day – this one chick was one of five who crossed the road in front of me that day, all looking to reunite with mom on the other side of the street.

A very little baby. Risky crossing 😕

It was very risky! Thankfully, the truck in front of me had slowed down to let one pass, so I knew to slow down to see what was going on.

Glad you were able to even see the little guy! I bet the truck in front of you just flew by. 😔
So cute!

The truck was actually the reason I saw them! He had slowed down to let one pass. He even came back around to slow traffic on the other side and make sure they had all gotten past safely once he saw me slowing down behind him. He might be out hunting them come fall, but he still wants them to grow big and strong before that!

So tiny ! Shame, the chances these poor animals have to take !

He was itty-bitty – I’m guessing it was the second batch of the year, because most of the spring babies look pretty much indistinguishable from the big ones now. We do have a LOT of turkeys here, but I don’t think most people want anything to happen to them, despite their large numbers.

Nice, but really dangerous. And Choppy: The 4th of July is over! 😉
Wish you all a great week ahead. 😉 Michael

My car is probably more dangerous to the bird that it is to me!

Oh, so glad to hear about the trucker and allowing the babies to cross. xo Sarah, sorry I have been missing and wishing I had more time!
I committed to reading books and reviewing them. It cost a pretty penny for them so I have been trying to concentrate on my “homework!” Take care and thank you for liking my posts. I appreciate this very much, Sarah. It was July when last I was here. . .

Reading is always a good thing! I have a stack of books I should read, and then I find myself doing anything but reading. Thank goodness for audiobooks and our walks, or I would read, like, two books a year. With the audiobooks, I can read dozens.

That is a tiny baby for this time of year. I hope they get big enough to make it through the winter. Glad you, and the truck in front of you, saw it in time to slow down. I hate it if I inadvertently run over some animal on the road.

I think it will be fine – they seem to grow up quickly.
