We hit 200 miles over the weekend for this year’s Dog Walk Challenge (we hit it on Day 77, which is Day 442 overall). This was definitely helped by a day with 7.2 miles of walks – you don’t need many of those sorts of days to really increase your walking mileage!

“He wa’n’t no common dog, he wa’n’t no mongrel; he was a composite. A composite dog is a dog that is made up of all the valuable qualities that’s in the dog breed—kind of a syndicate; and a mongrel is made up of all riffraff that’s left over.”

Thanks! We’re off to a good start this week, but it’s going to be tough to beat that 7.2 mile day this week, unless we decide to go on a hike this weekend.

Congrats on walking that many miles with a companion who can turn any walk into an adventure.

That’s for sure – though these days, most of those adventures involve bunny chasing, and me attempting to distract Choppy to keep her from getting too far off of the path.

Great stats! It looks like you are way ahead of last year – am I right?

Oh, definitely – last year, especially at the beginning, it seemed like a challenge just to do the one mile walk. Now, our regular one mile walk seems short! Plus, I’m trying to bank miles for the winter, when it is doubtful I will want to (or be able to) get more than a mile in many days.

Canine-grats on the mileage. And the Mark Twain quote…priceless.

He refuses to walk on a leash – as soon as he learns how to walk properly, he can join us.
