If you watch sports, you learn your sports cliches. It appears these two have been paying attention.
And now, a clip from one of my favorite movies, which I can’t help but think of today (warning: the language in the video is Rated PG-13, and pretty close to Rated R):
OH dear! That video clip. I love winning, it’s better than losing. I’m just glad to be here.

The best is whenever I hear someone use one of those lines in real life. I always wonder if they’re quoting the movie, or legitimately using the cliche.

One of the all-time best sports movies. Ever. Especially when you consider that it’s “a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.”

Yes! I almost used that one for the cliches. It’s one of my absolute favorite movies, not just sports movies.

Great movie, and Chops and Schooner are spot on.

Love that movie too. It doesn’t matter what the sport is, the cliches are pretty much the same. Commentators are worse than players; I get banished from the room when there is rugby on (our national religion, oops, sport) for trying to provide “alternate commentary”.

You’d be welcome at our house – much commentary happens regarding the statements of the announcers, often without any concern about what’s going on, on the field!

Even sports cliches are adorable when they are used by Schooner and Choppy.

that was the exact scene that came to mind when i read your post. this is not a cliche but i believe its not genuine i cant stand when that soccer announcer gets more excited about a measly regular season goal than i would be if i woke up and my johnson was 3inches bigger. cmon man

100% seems to be the new cliche in Australia π¦πΊ

Oh, there is much “giving of 110%” here as well!
