Now that it’s July, it’s time for the Backyard View photos through June! There isn’t much change going on back there, now that we’re well into summer. If you watch the area to the right of the (now very green) pond, though, you’ll see that some of it gets mowed, thanks to Paul.

The background: Over last summer, I loved watching the Tuesday View posts of Eliza’s Garden at her website (which, in turn, is part of a regular feature at Cathy’s blog, Words and Herbs). Inspired by that, I thought it would be interesting to take a weekly picture of our backyard to see how it changes throughout the year. So, every Tuesday (well, usually Tuesday – sometimes I miss a day or end up taking a picture on Wednesday), I’ll head back there and take a picture. Then, at the end of the year, I’ll have 52 or so pictures to combine into a slideshow of how the yard changes throughout the year!

What a lust, beautiful yard. Sadly we have a sizeable piece of property but due to the drought had to stop watering our lawn. It’s now brown. But we have to do our bit to help. Luckily it’s surrounded by a lot of yet green trees. Enjoy being outside in your yard ya’ll.

At least you have some green trees, even if you have a crunch lawn! We’re get enough rain that most summers, the lawn stays nice and green without any help.

By the end of the year, the slide show is going to go by really fast (or I’m going to have to make it much longer!).

Is that algae? Looks fab and I do like your video.

It’s algae, or something similar. Our attempts to deal with it have failed, so I think we have to move to the big guns: aeration.

ooh that sounds expensive!

And that’s why we didn’t put in aeration this year!

What an amazing transformational morphing into loads of green.

I like the part where it goes from snow to melted to snow, etc. Of course, when it was happening, I didn’t like it at all!

Know THAT feeling. While the pizza oven heat is killing me, I’ll no doubt be whining when a freezing wind is blowing in January. 🙂

Amazing Sarah!
It is massive and green.
By the way, Wednesday isn’t too far from Tuesday ☺
Well done you.

Wow what a beautiful backyard! I miss all the green of the east coast. Now everything is brown in the desert. I’d love to have your view!

I think that would be the hardest part of moving somewhere dryer – not seeing the green every day.
