Now that we’re up to several months of Backyard View photos, I’ve moved the slideshow to Youtube. The video is below – enjoy!

Over last summer, I loved watching the Tuesday View posts of Eliza’s Garden at her website (which, in turn, is part of a regular feature at Cathy’s blog, Words and Herbs). Inspired by that, I thought it would be interesting to take a weekly picture of our backyard to see how it changes throughout the year. So, every Tuesday, I’ll head back there and take a picture. Then, at the end of the year (if I manage to keep this up), I’ll have 52 pictures to combine into a slideshow of how the yard changes throughout the year!

It sure is an ever-changing view! Can you see a surise or sunset from there?

Not really – that view is looking straight north off of our back porch. There are trees on both the east and west sides of the house, so we don’t get much for the sunsets and sunrises. Thankfully, I have all my walks to enjoy those from!

Lovely videos! What an amazing view out your back yard! And the assembly of birds and critter noises announce a lively day ahead!!! Great idea!😁

I’ve really enjoyed doing it – I actually took the first May picture this morning, and it’s a major change even from next week. I’m really looking forward to the end of the year when I can see all the seasons come and go!

We are – though when it gets to the point in the year when the pond that is under all that water is green, it’s not quite as nice!

Great fun in watching the transition of the seasons. Thank you for sharing these beautiful images! It must be wonderful waking to these views every morning.

I do not complain about these views right now – maybe when the pond under there turns green, you’ll hear some complaints, but not now. (And perhaps this is the year we figure out how to keep it from greening up!)

I actually put the dates on the pictures for next month – I don’t know if anyone else will enjoy that, but I think it is nice to be able to see exactly when I took the picture.

Yes, dates are useful later on when your brain is addled (like mine) and you can’t remember stuff 🙂

With several months of pictures, I was getting to be unable to tell where any of them fell in order – it was necessary for me!

I’m loving this view – it’s cool watching the thaws, refreezing and flooding. The reflections this week are lovely – the perfect mirror. I gotta figure out the slideshow thingy (I’m such a technophobe).

I don’t feel like last year we had so much thawing and re-thawing.
On the slideshow, I did the ones before this on WordPress. That was getting a little unwieldy with so many photos now, so I just did it on my iPhone’s photo app. You can just select photos and it puts them in a slideshow for you. I can keep the photos there in a folder where I don’t have to go searching for them, like I do with WordPress.

I love your back yard. Loved when you took pics last year too.

We love it, too – hopefully we’ll get some work done back there to make it nicer and more usable during the summer. It’s mosquito-central back there!

Ugh, I live by the local drainage tunnel so I know what you mean!

Very interesting to see the changes. Sounds like a great idea and I thought about it after seeing your post, and including Tippy in the picture. Thinking about it is as far as I got. Maybe next year.

It’s fun – I think I’m probably the most excited about it. I see it change all year, but it only registers at one level. I figure this will really make me see how much it changes.

True. Gradual changes you don’t notice as much. Seeing it as a slide show does make it more “real.”

Thanks – I am glad others enjoy it. It’s one of those things I thought would be great for me, and I’m happy to discover others like it as well!
