Loving the Turkeys 🙂 Choppy looks happy in the sun.

We were all happy in the sun! We’re seeing more of it these days as winter ends, but still not as much as we would like!

It looks like nice walking weather! I’m so ready for spring. It feels like it’s been a longer winter than normal. We had gorgeous days each day last week except for Thursday — and naturally, that was the day I happened to take off. 😐

It hasn’t been a particularly bad winter here, but I’m with you – it seems to be lasting so, so long!

The weather is looking great ! I am sure the bunnies also prefer the warmer weather. Lovely pics 🙂

Watch out for those turkeys Choppy, they can get mean!

She had no desire to go after them – I am guessing she has had a run-in or two with them at my parents’ house, where we see them all the time.

You don’t want to mess with those ‘Thanksgiving’ guys. They fight back. Stick to bunnies, Choppy. Happy weekend.

I think she knows they fight back – my parents have tons of turkeys at their place, and based on Choppy’s avoidance of them, she may have tussled with one or two in the past and knows better than to do it again.

Choppy is quite wise to avoid them. Those buggers scare the Be-Jesus out of me!! 🦃

Turkey lawn ornaments… could be the northern version of pink flamingoes. 😉

They are more understated – the front yard version of the pink flamingos!

Tippy will chase turkeys and the ones around here run from her and fly into the trees. I’ve never seen them act like they were going to fight back, so the comments above are interesting to me. I’m glad the bunny got away. Tippy wound up catching one the other day when my mom and dad took her for a walk. I had to have a “come to Jesus” meeting with her when she growled at me as I approached her while she was enjoying her kill. The next morning, I went out and picked up the remaining half to throw it away. I wasn’t going to be home and was afraid the pit bulls would come by and they would have a fight over the carcass. Plus, she would have just left it until it got stinky and then rolled in it. Yuck!

I’m guessing there is a difference between city and country turkeys – the ones I’ve been around in the city are far more aggressive than the country ones. Those at my parents’ house in the country head for the trees, but the ones I was around in town regularly attacked kids for their lunches.
Good call on getting rid of the rabbit. It’s an unpleasant job, but much better than dealing with the other possibilities.

That’s interesting that the city turkeys are aggressive. I guess when their main food is people’s lunches and not bugs, they have to be in order to survive. After all, they aren’t cute enough to get people to just hand over their food willingly like they do for squirrels or other birds.

I wonder if the turkeys would come to the feeders. It seems you could tempt them with the proper food.

They would probably like corn, but the squirrels would get that first, I’m sure.

The only ones who give the squirrels a run for the corn around here right now are the ducks – I’m guessing within a few days the squirrels are going to have to get a lot bolder if they want any corn at all!
