February is Spunky Old Broads Month!

Tuesday (February 28) is Choppy’s (sort of) Gotcha Day – it’s the day I went to the Humane Society and picked out a little fluffball of a puppy Β who was contentedly sleeping in a corner of her kennel, already given up for adoption a second time in her life. I wouldn’t be able to pick her up for a few days after that, but that was the day someone put up a blue sign on her kennel to let everyone know that the cute little puppy in that particular kennel was spoken for and had a forever home waiting. That was eight years ago.

Do you know how I remember it was eight years ago? Because I had just turned 30 three days earlier. So today, when I turn 38, I just have to do the subtraction to figure out how long I have had Choppy.

Of course, I don’t think either of us is old – and depending on the day, we may not be terribly spunky, either! But we’ll celebrate Spunky Old Broads Month anyway – because who doesn’t like a spunky old broad?

Two Not-As-Old-As-We-Are-Now Broads are depicted in this picture.
