Happy weekend! I hope yours promises to be as good as ours – I already got one Day 295 walk in, because it’s warm, sunny and definitely not February-in-Wisconsin-like out there. But for now, how about some Day 294 stats?
Date: February 17, 2017
Location: Home
Length: 1.3 Miles
Who: Sarah & Choppy
And now, a video of our bird feeders yesterday. Or should I say squirrel feeders? That’s who seems to be in charge (though there is a cardinal you can see on the ground at some point, and a woodpecker at the suet). Also look for a bug crawling around, and a lot of Schooner off to the right as he checks out the squirrels and birds. I suspect Choppy was snoozing on the couch this whole time.

Squirrels = free-loaders. Just saying.

Squirrels are always in charge of bird feeders…especially in the cities of Wisconsin.

That would be my experience!

My goodness, there is a lot taking place around those bird feeders.

It’s Schooner’s daily movie – his cat tree overlooks all of this.

Squirrels are such piggies. Impossible to eradicate ones…

I think they (like chipmunks) are one of those creatures you think you can trap, and after the first dozen, you realize you have a lot more of them around than you ever thought!

Wow lots of action! We had squirrels in our bird feeder and it was so much fun to watch them

They are such little clowns and acrobats. I don’t mind having them around, I just wish they would not eat the bird seed, and stick with the corn and things for them. I bought some peanuts this week, which they seem to love – plus, they have kept off of the bird feeders while it is out.

haha they are amazing and fun to watch!

Local radio station may have to start giving out regular traffic updates for that area.

“It’s 2 minutes in from the tree to the round bird feeder this morning, one and a half minutes on the outbound.”

You can sprinkle cayenne powder in the birdseed, birds don’t mind, squirrels hate it. There are squirrel feeders that “fling” the squirrels off….videos of that are really hilarious. 😹😮😆

Ha! I like the idea of flinging squirrels (so long as no one gets hurt). I don’t mind them near the feeders and eating from them sometimes, but they do eat far too much. I am tempting them with peanuts and corn on the ground this weekend. It seems to be working – they haven’t been up on the actual feeders much!

Lol! I finally got squirrel baffles for my feeders. I put feeder over to the side for the squirrels and it’s working fine😕

I started giving them more food this weekend – it seems to be keeping them off the feeders for now. Apparently, they want peanuts more than sunflower seeds!

I love the bird and squirrel feeder video

Thanks! I may keep the camera there for a while and see what I can get videos of.

Squirrels are hungry mammals, then they get pregnant & need to feed their babies & with all the snow they can’t get at the acorns they buried in the Fall & on top of that, they probably don’t remember where they buried them. What a dilemma. Critter Feed helps, has huge kernels of corn & peanuts, cheaper than good birdseed.

I started putting out peanuts yesterday – they seem to be staying off of the feeders since then. Apparently, they prefer those to the sunflowers! We’ll see how long this lasts.

My bird feeders become squirrel feeders too. Oh well. I guess they have to eat also. Glad you are having good walking weather.

I don’t want to stop feeding them – I don’t mind having them around, as they are cute and fun (plus, they give Choppy something to chase). I just don’t want them eating the sunflower. I have peanuts out for them now, which seems to be helping keep them off of the feeders (of course, it’s only been 24 hours of that, so who knows how long it will last).

They love peanuts, so hopefully that will work. Blue Jays love peanuts too, I hear.

Oh, I would love to have the blue jays around – some people don’t like them, but they are too pretty for me to dislike them. I see one or two occasionally, but not at the feeders.

They really are beautiful, but can be loud and aggressive. I prefer to emphasizes their good qualities.

I’d love to be the director of this video:
Feeders in view, check. Take One!
Line up the squirrels. And go!
Squirrel 2 on feeder 3…. go!
Que the boxelder bug… ok crawl, crawl, crawl great! Exit right.
Schooner. Schooner? Where’s Schooner? Someone get him out of his trailer, he’s up. (Dang cats. Always over priced divas…)
Schooner! Right side enter annnnd exit. Ok, your can go back to your lounger.
Drop birds in. Great exit.
Squirrels close with empty feeders…
Aaaaaand it’s a rap!
Wanna have some fun? I put veggie oil or Vaseline on the hooks and watch the squirrels try to climb and slide down. Yes, I’m evil.
Even if you do put peanuts and corn down, the squirrels aren’t stupid. They will try to go after the sunflower seeds first if they can.
Loved the video! 😂😅😂

You’re welcome to direct all the bird feeder films around here!
Greasing up the poles would be good times. I do enjoy a good show, after all!
