You almost feel badly for the rodent. Then you realize, it’s a rodent who predicted 6 more weeks of winter and you think, “no, I don’t feel so badly after all, Phil.” Birthday greetings to Paul. 🎂

He always seems to see his shadow – I think there may be a conspiracy going on with Mother Nature seriously implicated as well.
Also, Paul says thank you for the birthday wishes!

The ‘shadow’ verdict is more often shared than not. They actually ‘decide’ the verdict in advance. #itssorigged 😉

Happy B-Day Paul! (Did that groundhog get in some catnip prior to the pictures being taken…Schooner sure has taken a “liking” to it)

Anything that moves out there attracts much attention from Schooner. No catnip required!
And Paul says thank you!

We’re sure Schooner could predict spring just as well. Happy Birthday Phil!

I think his predictions of spring involve the return of all the birds he wishes he could go outside and attempt to catch!

Well our birds have decided spring has sprung and are pairing up nicely. Perhaps Schooner needs a European holiday? 😉

I think we could all use a European holiday!

Yet another ground hog snuffed out by Schooner. It was probably that prediction of another month and a half of winter that did him in. And a Happy Birthday to Paul too. 😀

Because of that prediction, I have no qualms about letting Schooner at the groundhog. And Paul thanks you for the birthday wishes!

Awfully cute for a rodent.

They’re much cuter in the stuffed animal and dog-dressed-up form than they are in real life.

Hope Groundhog wasn’t a special little B’day present for Paul, now that Schooner looks like he made it “his.” 😁

He was actually supposed to go on a wreath, but he came late and I didn’t get around to making the wreath, so he is going to get put away, so that I can not get this done again next year.

Happy happy –
and it was so foggy here this morning, no way anything could shadow dance.

I could go for some fog -that would mean it has warmed up!

Oh, Schooner. How cute. I love it when cats grab toys and kick them with their bunny feet.

I hope Schooner got a decent meal from the groundhog as he tore his head off.

Sadly, it was full of stuffing that had nothing to do with bacon.

A birthday without bacon is a birthday in need of a bacon filled day after…

I can’t believe I missed groundhog day this year! I even thought about it a couple of days earlier, had a perfect photo ready at hand only to notice 2 days afterwards that I missed it!

Oh, no! Well, at least you’re already set for next year, right?

Hopefully I will remember it then 😉

Please pass a happy birthday to Paul! 😋 Sorry I’m late…
I can’t seem to coordinate when you pop off your posts and when I read my reader. Thus, I tend to binge-read your blog on weekends!

That works for me! I post them early in the day (they are, in theory, scheduled – it doesn’t always happen, but usually). I should really space them out more across the day, rather than just a couple hours in the morning.

I used to have an odd affinity to ‘possoms. I thought that they were cute, hanging from their tails in trees, or how mom carried them on her back.
I don’t see many here, but they were all over my Florida house. My Akita had some tangles with a few… she never got inured, but the ‘possom never faired well.

I’m surprised you don’t have them! Perhaps I just attract them, because I have had them around everywhere I have lived here in the States.

I’m the woodchuck whisper. We can’t all have the same familiar. 😄

I’ll take the opossums – much more fun to have something you can pick up by the tail when they are playing dead (a trick I have never and will never try – I’m not that brave (or that drunk)).
