On a walk with Choppy this morning (a Day 87 walk), I realized that we are extremely close to hitting 100 Days in the Dog Walk Challenge, which is our current goal. It seemed a long way off when I decided to extend the original 30 Day challenge. Now, it seems so close!
Date: July 24, 2016
Location: Home
Length: 1.3 Miles
Who: Sarah & Choppy
An excellent achievement! Very well done 🙂

It is so close now! I can’t wait to get there. Whether we continue on with the challenge is another matter, though!

I don’t know. 100 is such a good number, but part of me thinks doing 6 full months would be good. Of course, when I get there, I will probably feel like a whole year wouldn’t be too bad.

I think achieving a healthy lifestyle is a series of small steps until it becomes habit. We started walking several times a day 20+ years ago ‘to exercise the dog’ and it has become a habit that we crave and enjoy, even 3 dogs later. 🙂

I think the challenge aspect of it is really helping me – if I put it out there and fail, others are going to see it. I’m not sure it’s truly a habit yet. I mean, I have walked Choppy every day for a long time, but not these long walks. I suspect I could easily fall back into getting an extra half hour of sleep in the morning without the Challenge!

Getting up in the dark on a cold winter morning? Sleep in a warm bed sounds better for sure!

Doesn’t it? Compared to my beautiful summer mornings, it would be a true challenge.
