We’re up to Day 67 of the Dog Walk Challenge!
I am always thankful that Choppy has been a healthy dog. I know so many people who aren’t so lucky with their own dogs or cats or other animals. Thankfully, there are many wonderful pet professionals who help get everyone healthy – Happy National Pet Professionals Week!
Haha cute!

LOL, very funny Choppy! However, I understand about having things stuck inside of you. š

Yes you do – Choppy doesn’t know how good she has it compared to some!

Hi Sarah,
I’m thankful for our vets, too. And I agree with you: in gthe second picture Choppy looks like she’s eager to go to the vet. š
Have a wonderful day,
Pit

She must have misunderstood and thought we were going to get pet. She enjoys a good petting. The vet? Not so much.

hahaha Interestingly enough, Tippy could care less about the stick up her butt. Clipping her nails is a completely different story!

Choppy is just the opposite – she is indifferent to the nail clipping, but hates the stick!

Hah! Dante hates that butt sticky thing too – even after a dog cookie as compensation š

I’m pretty sure even a steak covered in bacon wouldn’t make Choppy like it!

Please let Choppy and Schooner know it’s no fun when humans get things stuck up there by their doctors either…and as a doctor it’s no fun sticking things up patients especially our fingers!!!

It’s an all-around hated activity!

it’s nice to see Schooner and Choppy agreeing on something!

They can also always agree that they don’t get enough treats.

I’ve always been grateful that our dogs aren’t afraid of the vet. They always go willingly.

Choppy willingly gets in the car to go to the vet. Once we get there? Not so much. Trying to move 80 pounds of dog who has no desire to move is not an easy task!

SUCH a good girl! Choppy, you are up for anything!

She may be up for anything, but she doesn’t end up liking everything (particularly when it comes to the vet’s office!).

I can understand Choppy’s feelings. At nearly 57 years of age, I finally convinced my internist to switch to oral temperature testing. I certainly hope he invested the “big bucks” into purchasing new thermometers rather than simply using alcohol to clean the old ones! š (YES, I’m kidding!)

I think everyone prefers the oral temperature testing – though how in the world you would get some animals to do it is beyond me.
And for the sake of everyone at your internist’s office, I’m hoping for the new ones as well! š

Haha, our cat used to clamp her behind to the table as soon as she saw the thermometer!

The dog I had growing up got very sick at some point, and couldn’t move his back legs (we suspect he got into poison or something similar out in the woods). We took him to the emergency vet after we realized something was wrong, and he was as calm and nice as he ever had been; he was generally a complete pain and jerk to people he didn’t know, including vets. He’s lying on the vet’s table, getting poked and prodded. Then, the vet took out the thermometer and began using it. The dog tried to jump off the table, despite his paralyzed legs.
That’s when we knew he would be OK (he lived many years after that).

Mongo loves everyone, but I can sense a rise in anxiety when he visits the vet. Since his diet incorporates everything from santa hats to lead wheel weights, he gets a probed on the back end a bit more than other dogs. This could be due to me listing the complaint as “He ate ‘something’.” He has even barfed up wads of plastic packaging he nabbed from the trash right in the exam room. On that visit, the vet said calmly, “I think that answers that question.” My favorite vet tech was the young lady who came by and used the stick for a #2 sample. Immediately afterward, Mongo planted his butt on the ground and looked up at her with such a violated expression that she stopped for a moment and said, “I’m sorry buddy. I didn’t even buy you dinner.” I almost fell out of the plastic scoop back chair I laughed so hard at that one.

Oh, that is a good one – I bet she was a popular vet tech, if for no other reason than her sense of humor!
Choppy has thankfully never been an eater of odd things. Sure, there is an occasional piece of plastic from a toy she accidentally swallows, but it’s pretty much a food-only zone!
