Welcome to the end of the Dog Walk Challenge! Every day this month, I took a walk of a mile or more (usually with Choppy, but due to certain circumstances, I couldn’t always do that). First off, the information on Day 31.
Date: May 31, 2016
Location: Home
Length: 1.3 Miles
Who: Sarah & Choppy
Now, some other statistics on the initial challenge:
Total Days: 31
Total Walks: 37
Total Miles: 60.8 Miles
Average Miles: 1.96 Miles/Day
Longest Walk with Choppy: 3.3 Miles (May 29)
Most Miles in a Day; 5.4 Miles (May 29)
I’ve had such a great time with this Challenge – and it seems to have done such good for Choppy – that I’m extending it. Our next goal: 100 Days (so, 69 more days). That will take us well into August. And if we make that, who knows how far we’ll go?
Yea, glad you are extending the challenge! I bet Choppy is happy! Have a great day Sarah. 🙂

I am looking forward to the next couple months of the Challenge – it actually seems less intimidating than the original one did. I know I can do 31 days, what’s another few dozen days?

Should be easy – what about the temperature, does it get hot there in the summer?

It really depends on the year. Last year, it didn’t, but some summers can get bad (of course, having grown up here, this is somewhat relevant – the 80s seem very hot to me!).

I am so impressed at how you managed to keep going Every day, and how far you actually walked in total! Very well done! 🙂

When I started, I figured I would get just over a mile a day – I definitely blew by that!

Fantastic, so pleased you are extending this challenge. Yay! Choppy must have been happy to see her little friends hopping about 🙂

She loves those bunnies! Many were out this morning – and a squirrel. It was quite a fun walk for her.

Yes!
Sure she won’t want to stop. You will be surprised. ☺
Well done guys.

She really does love all the walking – this morning, she looked upset when I took the cutoff for our shorter walk. I wish I had the time to take her on the long one. Perhaps I’ll set the alarm clock a little earlier tomorrow and get the long one in!

Yes Sarah, if the weather is good, just take her. You know once it gets cold everything stops. Take care of you my lady. XO

If we stopped everything here when it got cold, we’d be in trouble (because it’s cold most of the year!). It will be the true test to see if I want to keep on with it once the colder weather arrives.

Well done! Is Paul still recovering from his one walk?

I think he may have recovered. He may have to take one or two this weekend again, so I hope he has recovered!

Congrats to making it to the end and sticking to it, also nice job on 60 miles! You have inspired me to take more notice of how often and how far I’m walking, it really does the mind and body some good 🙂

Oh, I’m so glad to hear this! It has been a great challenge so far. I didn’t think we would get anywhere near 60 miles in a month.

That’s a lot of miles. 100 days will probably be over 200 miles! Gah! I need a nap!
Love and licks,

I never thought of it that way – it sounds like a whole lot of miles! Our feet are really going to hurt!

Good for you two! It becomes a desired habit when you connect the way your mind and body feel better, so you just want more. I walk every day, even in winter. I go crazy without it (Okay, craz-IER). ;-D
Wren flushed a woodchuck in the front yard yesterday – THAT was pretty exciting!

Oh, that sounds like some excitement – it was bunny central on our walk this morning. Nothing so exciting as a woodchuck!
And these long walks really do feel good. I’ve walked Choppy twice a day almost every day of her life, but those have generally been shorter walks. Maybe these long ones let me relax more, or just feel more in tune with Choppy and nature. Whatever it is, it’s good!

Sounds like an all around win-win!

Congrats and making it through the challenge. I bet Choppy’s glad you’re going to extend it too. Now that the great weather is here, it’s so much fun to get outside and walk although I haven’t been quite as good as you and Choppy but I’m working on it.

I think posting every day on the Challenge is helpful to me – keeps me somewhat accountable!
And I really am doing this at the best time of the year. Something tells me if this was the end of January, I wouldn’t be so keen on extending the challenge into February!

I need to do this challenge!
I also need Choppy to come over and evict some bunnies! 🐇

She is very poor at this job – as the bunnies that we are now seeing in the backyard attest to!
As for the Challenge, it’s great. And now is definitely the time of year to do it!

I will try to start a 3x a week challenge perhaps 😉

Congratulations! That must feel great 🙂 Choppy is quite brave going after those bunnies, says Elvis our whippet cross – he says to watch out for the Wererabbits 😉 (can’t recall if I told you that he apparently met one and now looks away whenever a rabbit crosses his path – it’s very funny, just quietly!)

Elvis may be the only dog on the planet who is afraid of rabbits. Though based on Choppy’s level of obsession, if you know where we can find this wererabbit, I am all for attempting this method of diversion therapy (or whatever it may be called) on Choppy.

Elvis would be pleased to export the wererabbit from Australia to America. Capturing it could be an issue. We’ll get back to you on that one.

Let us know if we can be of aid in its capture. I have some garlic, but I think that might be for vampirabbits.

Imagine the fangs on them! Elvis just whimpered in his sleep, too 😉
