“A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.”

Walk One: I am always happy when our morning walk doesn’t involve dodging construction equipment (they are completely rebuilding part of the road we walk on). Much better just to get to take pictures of the equipment than to worry about meeting one’s end by it!Our greeter: as is often the case, someone was distracted by the leash.Walk Two: It may look rainy/stormy, but we didn’t get a drop of rain.A happy (and exhausted) dog.
Many people (both online and in person) have commented that Choppy has started to look really good. And the vet was super happy at our walking commitment, so that was great. It feels good to get that sort of encouragement and confirmation that the effort you’re putting in is having results.
It is ALWAYS worth participating in healthy activities that improve how we feel as well as how we look . These activities benefit us physically as well as mentally. It is so nice to see the two of you enjoying the outdoors together and spending some nice quality peaceful time enjoying each other.
I’m so happy that we are doing it as well – I know I enjoy it, and I’m pretty sure Choppy does as well (even if she can’t say so). I’m going to catch up on my comments here, then I am headed out with her. It’s a toasty one today, so I think we may walk a way with some water so Choppy can cool off with a little dip at the halfway point of the walk.
I am glad you think so! I have been hearing the same from others online and in person. It makes the work and effort worthwhile! (As for me, I think anything that gets me exercising is good – after all, I used to regularly drive a couple hundred feet, rather than walk it!)
Construction is NOISY. If a doggie didn’t know better, she’d get scared and turn to stone and her mom would have to carry her. Does this happen to you, C?
Choppy is pretty chill with construction. Now, fireworks? Those are something else – those are to be attacked for disturbing the peace! (Choppy really does attack them – it’s the opposite reaction of about 99% of dogs!)
Great words from John Grogan and so true ! What fantastic exercise for both of you. Choppy I am sure is in her element. (Pity you can’t include Schooner 🙂 …can you imagine? )
I absolutely agree !!! Well, don’t laugh, but it has been known to get a cat collar and a lead, so maybe on walk days times, put it on, and then you could put Schooner in the stroller 🙂 It maybe weird at first but Schooner could actually enjoy the ride 🙂
I think he would! If nothing else, at least if he didn’t, I would be able to tell himself that he knows what he is missing, so I won’t feel bad about leaving him at home.
Looks like some quality time spent together. I’ll bet both of you are benefiting from all this exercise as well!

These walks are definitely improving Choppy’s looks and health. 🙂 And I’m sure the same goes for the one behind the camera! 😀

It is a way of life, to walk more and try to be more healthy. The longer you can keep it up, the easier it becomes. 🙂

It already feels like it is easier. I want to extend the Challenge if for no other reason that I am really, really enjoying it!

I keep threatening to get a stroller for Schooner. Paul seems to think this will not work well. I think we won’t know until we try.
