A to Z Challenge, humor, Random Choppy Stuff, That Darn Cat
Considering it was snowing about two weeks ago here in Wisconsin, I think a Christmas-like A to Z Challenge is fine. Right?

They don’t look so happy, but very adorable!

No – this was definitely not one of the happier looks for either of them!

Ha, it’ll be a miracle if you get Schooner on board with costume wearing! 😀

He wore the vest the other day – I think he doesn’t like the things on his head. Choppy took a long time to put up with those as well. So I may just have to figure on easing him into those.

He is young still – plenty of training ahead!

If only he had come fully trained…

I think it’s the expression on their faces, but that first picture had me laughing out loud. They clearly humor you because they love you.

I love to hear this made you laugh!
And at least Choppy humors me. The cat mostly attacks, then resigns himself briefly to his fate before further attacks. I have to get the pics in that brief period of resignation.

It so shows in his eyes, which just makes me giggle. Animals may not “speak” but they sure know how to communicate!

Cut her some slack, Choppy just needs to sleep! Look at her poor wee legs, they’ve given way.

Ha! If she sleeps any more than she already does, we’re going to be waking her up to eat!

How do you get Schooner to co-operate?

Treats.
Well, that, and distraction. He is hard to get into clothing, but once he is, you can sort of distract him long enough to snap pictures. After that, he goes back to attempting to eat/play with his clothing.

I couldn’t even try that with my dogs. Trevor hates having a coat put on in cold weather, but he’d tolerate a certain amount (but certainly wouldn’t sit still). As for Eos – she would run and hide at the first sign of anything!

How is Eos doing? I mean, I see he has a new bird friend, but in general?

Thanks for asking, Sarah. She is getting better every day. She’s still very nervous and the smallest things spook her, but she jumps on my bed in the mornings for a while, and today she got into the camper without being coaxed for the first time. It’s going to take a while, but we are getting there.

Baby steps – and getting into the camper on her own is one of those. I’m so glad she found someone who has the patience to help her become the great dog she should have always had the chance to be!

Hahaha this is really good :Must have been confusing though, Christmas in April and no prezzies to open….it is like, we get the hats but what else???
Seriously though, you must be so quick with those camera shots ! and it looks like Schooner is really getting into this 🙂

I could just pull out the special treats and they’ll think it’s Christmas (they’re still both unclear on the whole concept of time, as is readily apparent at the excitement Choppy exhibits when I return from such long excursions as “throwing something in the garbage can” or “getting the mail”).
And I think I am getting faster with the camera, or at least knowing how to make it look like I know what I am doing!

You know, it seems to me that Schooner is getting better at being a model. Kind of scares me to think a cat could be cooperative, but some of these photos are of evidence of said.

He is getting less antsy, that’s for sure. I think he’s just getting older and lazier, so he puts less effort into fighting (though there is plenty of fight left in him, as evidenced by my scratched up hands!).

Choppy and Schooner have amazing skills. They are BOTH able to display Love and Disdain at the same time. I can hear them discussing, “there better be some serious treats available later!!”
Keep the camera shooting. For at least one moment in the day, we can share a feeling of lighthearted fun. Thank you.

They are quite talented members of the family with their emotional range.
And we are definitely going to keep up with our pictures – I love how much happiness they bring to everyone!

I gotta know, how are you able to get the costume on Schooner? My doggy hates wearing things and wriggles like nothing else, I couldn’t imagine trying to put something like that on a cat, I would be afraid my hands would be ripped to shreds. Thanks for sharing, such cute pictures. 😀

It’s not easy – he doesn’t particularly like the ‘getting the clothes on’ part and much scratching is involved. Once it’s on, he’s better (though there are still many attempts at getting the clothing off/playing with it).

It’s all for the cameras. Off-screen, they go at it like cats and dogs.

I think it is very fair of you kids to take turns looking at the camera. Way to keep your mom on her toes.

I could never do a Christmas theme with my pup. He goes insane as soon as he sees his Christmas stocking or we try to take our annual Christmas pics even without any props. Choppy and Schooner seemed to have handled the whole Christmas in April thing much better even with if there were a few outtakes.

Insane as in excited? Or insane as in terrified? I hope the former!

Insane as in exited. He knows that his Christmas stock means treats.

It was hard to do it on my end, particularly as I don’t want to see any more snow. But it was an easy costume to do, so in the end, laziness won out!

Sarah, they are extra cute with those reindeer antlers on! I would be happy to see these once a week. Choppy’s hat looks hand knit!

Thank you! There tends to be more dress up at Christmas – I have a ton of Christmas outfits for Choppy.
