Choppy had been to the vet before I got her, but this is a picture of her at the vet for the first time with me.
She kind of enjoyed that first trip to the vet. It was the first, last and only time she really enjoyed a trip to the vet. Now, I get to wrestle her out of the car. It’s…not fun.
Ray was introduced to “his” vet by way of a number of social calls first! He got to meet everybody and was inundated with treats. After 3 social calls, he very happily went for hist first checkup…. which bothered him such that his next appointment was also preceded by 2 or 3 social calls. Now he goes to the vets quite happily, but will back away when the “needle people” approach him. It’s too late for him to escape at that point! 🙂
😀 what a smart dog! Dante also did not like go to the vet – the one in the Netherlands. Here, he had yet no clue the direction to the vet. We’ve been there only once when the first time checking in to check up his health and register as a resident dog in Minneapolis (he enjoyed the attention though!). I am curious tomorrow of his reaction to his second check-up 😀
It went well, he still had no clue, happy tails when entering the Pet’s Doc office! Finally he has all vaccines needed to survive in American soil..should see what will happen on the third visit! 😀
I am glad it went well! And I forget that dogs probably need more vaccinations here, like for rabies. It’s a dangerous world out there for an American dog!
My dogs don’t mind the vet at all, luckily. Of course, nothing bad ever happens to them there, so of course they’re happy to collect extra petting and attention.
I am jealous! Choppy has been known to refuse to get out of the car. Eighty pounds of dog attempting to stay in the car is not an easy thing to deal with.
Choppy is good at the vet. She hates it, but she is well-behaved. Unlike the dog I had growing up, but that’s a whole different story involving having to sedate him just to give him shots so no one left the exam room missing digits.

Well, you can’t blame Ray on not liking the needles – he’s like a lot of humans in that respect!
