I had fully intended to write a post for this morning on a trail Choppy and I took last week. And then, this Severe Weather Alert came up on my weather app last night:
Yes, that’s right: last night’s weather involved invading smoke from Canada. This isn’t weather; this is something out of a science fiction book.
Even worse, it’s not like there is any helpful advice here. Basically, this weather warning says, “here’s a strange weather thing that has never, ever happened before. Good luck!” As if the lack of a warning wasn’t enough, the alert also makes an affirmative statement about the lack of knowledge on the part of the meteorologists when it notes no one knows when and how this smoke will disappear.
On the plus side, I’m pretty sure my future pictures of Choppy will look good with the natural haze that will apparently be plaguing us for the near future. So there’s that.
UPDATE:
It really is smoky out there!

It does, doesn’t it?! It’s not bad – I’ve been in much worse. We’re a long, long way from Canada and the fires.

Sorry for the smoke. Not what you want during your short summer. 😦

Not at all! But it could be worse – we’re a long, long way from the fires. And perhaps the smoke will kill off a mosquito (or ten thousand).

Yes, that would be a positive to say the least.

I was expecting lots of ethereal pictures of choppy Sarah but it doesn’t look like you have any close to home effects.to share. It would be brilliant if the Canadian smoke served to kill off your mozzies wouldn’t it?

Sadly, the smoke didn’t do anything with our mosquitoes. They are still out in droves, and another rainy day yesterday isn’t going to help matters!

Do they make ventilators for dogs? Well, they say the particulates make for awesome sunrises and sunsets… good luck!

We survived – it wasn’t that bad. By the next day, all the smoke had dissipated!

It is a lot worse for you – we just get some of your smoky leftovers!

The haze is even down here. I sure wish it takes down some of these skeeters! At least they are so large that you can feel them land on you and can swat them…

I don’t think it affected ours at all. And the rain yesterday isn’t going to help matters.

Is it really dry there now? I get why you meant by such limited information and advice – at least they can inform where is the location of the wildfires exactly – it feels like the whole Canada is on wildfires!

It’s actually been quite wet here this summer – not flooding, but just plenty of rain. We’re just getting the effects of the dryer weather elsewhere.

Um…yeah. Alerts don’t do much good if you have no idea what you’re supposed to do about them!

Nope – it was really just hazy. Maybe a little smell of smoke if you really tried to smell it, but not really much other than the haze.
