For a dog who has visited more of the United States and Canada than most people, Choppy has spent most of her home life in one state: Indiana. She was born in Indiana (or, at least, I am pretty sure she was born in Indiana), she was adopted in Indiana (twice), she grew up in Indiana, and, if she could talk, I’m pretty sure she would let me know that her favorite basketball player of all time is Larry Bird.

I’m also pretty sure that she expected to spend the rest of her home life in Indiana. But now, she finds herself in Wisconsin, a place she has spent significant amounts of time (thanks to me, her Wisconsin-raised walker and food provider) but which she would likely never have expected to be her true home (see also: Paul’s thoughts on Wisconsin).

So, with “I” being the letter of the week for Choppy by Letter, I thought I would pick out a few pictures from various Indiana locations where Choppy has spent time, to remember the good times she has had over her first six years of life.

It's puppy Choppy! This is one of the first pictures I ever took of her, at our Indiana home.

One of the first things I did with Choppy was go to McCormick Creek State Park. I learned quickly that Choppy enjoys getting dirty.

On to Notre Dame and tailgating! This was Choppy's first tailgate. She...didn't quite enjoy it. Things have improved immensely since then, and she thoroughly enjoys them now.

Brown County State Park: home to some beautiful pseudo-mountains. And about a million chipmunks, as I discovered the moment Choppy showed up and tried to chase every. single. one. of. them.
