In the past, I have documented some dangerous rest areas around the country. On our honeymoon, Paul and I visited many more rest areas. One of those was Painted Canyon Rest Area, quite possibly the greatest rest area in the country. I mean, the place has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor. If there is any doubt as to why, look at the pictures on Trip Advisor – the view from the rest area is absolutely stunning. It’s part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, and well worth a stop should you happen to find yourself driving across the country on I-94.
It’s also a dangerous rest area. At least, it was the day Paul and I were there, because there were bison everywhere.

SO COOL! And I had no idea Trip Advisor featured rest area ratings!

I’m not sure all of them are on there (though really, how nice would that be? Rest areas vary greatly. It would be nice to know if I am about to stop at one where I fear for my life or one with actual amenities).
