A few pictures from our first real day on the Alaska Highway – we made it to the Sikianni River, which is about 160 miles down the road. Note: this is not a blazing speed we are setting. Also? It rained that night. Camping in the rain is not fun when you are in a tent.
Mile 0 on the Alaska Highway! Not pictured: the many, many previous pictures attempted to get this one successful picture. The picture only succeeded because someone else came by and took the picture. The picture taker is not pictured, but his Corvette is.The Alaska Highway: many miles to go.After all the trouble at Mile 0, we took this picture at the only remaining original bridge from the Alaska Highway – Kiskatinaw River Bridge. We got this one on the second shot. I would like to find a happy medium on the picture taking, but considering my co-star is an animal, I find this unlikely to happen.I saw one of these signs to the side of the road, and didn’t really believe I had seen it. I pulled off the road shortly thereafter to turn around, and I saw a second of the signs. Somehow, this just doesn’t seem like it could be real. And yet, it was. Choppy was just happy not to be the only thing producing poisonous gas.Our campsite for the night. Choppy and I are still bringing the tacky. And the very dirty car.
What an undertaking! Just be careful and have fun!
