After our time in Shenandoah National Park, Choppy and I headed back home to Terre Haute for a few days (for those keeping track on Facebook and Twitter, yes, I am way behind on blog posting. For everyone who just follows the blog, you should totally follow Travels with Choppy on Facebook and Twitter). A few pictures from our trip home are below, including the most exciting part of our trip to Shenandoah National Park, which (thankfully) occurred as we were leaving the park.

About ten minutes after leaving the campground, I saw a black creature by the side of the road at Shenandoah National Park. It was a bear. I was very happy I saw this bear after I was done camping.
About ten minutes after leaving the campground, on our way out of Shenandoah, I saw a black creature by the side of the road. I slowed, wondering what sort of animal could be hanging out next to the road. Turns out? It was a bear. While I was happy to see the bear, I was very happy I saw this bear after I was done camping.
I like to think of this as an artistic picture. More accurately? This is a picture I accidentally took while attempting to get an entirely different picture of the bear (a picture I never ended up getting as the bear scooted off into the woods very quickly after I snapped this picture).
I like to think of this as an artistic picture, what with the bear framed so nicely in the corner of the mirror. More accurately? This is a picture I accidentally took while attempting to get an entirely different picture of the bear (a picture I never ended up getting as the bear scooted off into the woods very quickly after I snapped this picture).
I would like to know what in the world people were washing in this sink that required a sign to be posted regarding the proper use of the sink. On second thought, perhaps I don't want to know what people were washing in this sink. Particularly as I used it for its intended hand washing purpose.

On the way home, Choppy and I stopped at the New River Gorge Bridge. This is Choppy yawning. Evidently, Choppy and I have different ideas of what is amusing. I think scenery is amusing. Choppy thinks rolling in dead things is amusing.

Further down the gorge. Choppy looks less bored, though in reality, she was mostly attempting to jump in the river. Not to swim, mind you, as she hates to swim. Just to get wet then roll in dirt prior to getting in the car.
Further down the gorge. Choppy looks less bored, probably because she was now in a position where she might be able to jump in the river. Not to swim, mind you, as she hates to swim. She likes to get in the water just to get wet (she wades up to her neck), then she rolls in dirt prior to getting in the car. It’s not quite as amusing to her as rolling in something dead, but when nothing dead is at hand, it will do.
A pretty waterfall near the New River Gorge Bridge. I have nothing exciting to say about it. It's just a pretty picture.

I was rather disappointed by our hike to South River Falls in Shenandoah National Park. While we were driving home, I pulled over to look at this absolutely random waterfall. It was far better than the South River Falls, and didn't require several miles of hiking to get to it.

While we were driving home, I pulled over to look at this absolutely random waterfall (much larger than the one in the previous picture). It was far better than the South River Falls, and didn’t require several miles of hiking up a mountain to get to it. My car was about five feet behind where I took this picture from. That is my kind of waterfall.
