On Tuesday, I caught a glimpse of something I hadn’t seen in many, many months.
Could it be?
It’s the return of the monarchs!

We see a lot around here – apparently, we have more than many (/most) places.

That’s awesome….looks like a female to me! And…..there’s Milkweed for her to lay her eggs on! You can report Monarch sightings on Journey North.

It was definitely a female – and she was all about the milkweed. I’ve seen a lot more since I saw her (though she was the only one I chased around until I got a good picture).

Oh Fantastic! 🙂 Don’t they have an incredibly long migration – or is that something else?

They do – they go all the way to Mexico, supposedly. That’s a LONG way from here.

Yes, that is an incredible distance for such a small fragile thing.

I love butterflies. Just spent the majority of the day making cards with them (post will follow)

I saw them! They are beautiful, as your cards always are.

Aw, bless you. I made a decoupage one for my neighbour last week and he was over the moon with it.

This is so tremendous. I saw my 1st Monarch a few hours ago in a neighbors garden. Had to look twice, couldn’t believe it. Such a long, tough journey for their spring migration back up from Mexico. 🙂

It’s amazing to think about it. We have a lot of them here – I didn’t really realize the were so rare, as I am used to seeing them. I guess all those milkweed pods I opened up and blew away as a kid have paid off!

They are so beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen any yet this year, but I’m not sure.

They’re around – at least up here. We do have a lot more than many places, though, so it’s probably easier for me to see them than others.
