Venison Schooner, venison. I bet you’d like some of that.

It’s not just Schooner who would enjoy some good venison.

I have some happy memories of Mum with deer. Lucky you to have some in your back yard.

We are lucky to see them – with Choppy around, we don’t see them often. I think they can smell her and stay away.

We used to see several in the woods where we used to visit before. Barney did go haring off after one in the New Forest and got lost. It took ages to find him, and when he saw Hubby, we don’t know who was more relieved, him or the dog!

I can picture that – the dog we had growing up got lost for a couple days, and when we found him, it was clear he had never been happier to see anyone in his life.

I wonder what was going on in Schooner’s mind?
Is he a vocal cat? Was he making any sounds when he saw these large visitors?

He wasn’t making any noise – with the birds, squirrels, and other small animals, he can be very chatter-y. With these big guys, though, he was silent.

Schooner was no doubt dreaming of taking one down.

He will probably have to keep dreaming on that one, at least until deer get much smaller (or he gets much larger).

This was a beautiful photo of the view from inside the house, Sarah. My friend, Jenny, lives with a woods in the back yard. Deer are raiding her bird feeders like crazy! She puts out squash and pumpkins broken up to nibble on the vegetables on the ground. I’ll have to post soon and link back to you! hugs xo

Oh, I would like to see that! Our deer don’t come too close to the house usually, thanks to Choppy being here. I think they can smell her.

Not your average Choppy sized critter, was it Schooner? 🦌 You think he realized their hooved rats?

Ha! He probably does realize it – though it might just make them more attractive to his cat mind.

I can see Schooner’s mind at work…
Deer….not as good as bacon….but worth pursuing anyway!!

And you’ll never know if it’s as good as bacon if you never try it.

I grew up in a wooded area and we had deer visiting all the time so I really loved this!

Forget it, Schooner, they are too big for you. 😉

He’ll have to settle for others getting him some deer.
