Things I am grateful for: Choppy is not a howling dog. I can’t recall ever having heard her howl. I’m sure she is capable of it, but I haven’t heard it.

She doesn’t mind fire engines? Not sure which is worse…howling or fire engines screaming down the street. 😉

She is pretty chill about everything in the world, including noisy things. She gets startled sometimes by a noise, but otherwise it’s just something to ignore. Or bark at, depending on if said noise is the UPS truck or FedEx.

Choppy were you playing in the rain or the shower? hehe

The rain! It was pouring when we went out for our (short) morning walk!

You’re my kind of dog Choppy. I’m in bed at 8.30 and up at 4.30.

I would like to be in bed that early! I’m much closer to 11:30/5:30. I should just follow your lead!

Hopefully if you go to be earlier, Choppy and Schooner don’t feel like they’re missing out on your attention.

Thankfully, the Benji is not a howling dog either.

I don’t know how well I would handle a dog who howled!

Btw I’d love to recommend Schooner as the successor of Larry, the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office (title of the official resident cat of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at 10 Downing Street). More fun: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Mouser_to_the_Cabinet_Office

Does he get to move to London? I’m happy to send him. Paul, on the other hand, might not be so keen on that.

Ohh yeahh.. Candidate can’t go without guardian’s permission. Sorry Schooner.. And yeah he’d be seen perched on the stairs at Ten Downing Street. His passport and visa – all sponsored by Ms Theresa May! Looking at Schooner’s peace-making tactics, I know he is eligible for the Nobel Prize as well woohoo.. Only if there was one in the Animal Kingdom 😦

This summer when the coyotes came down out of the hills with their young to teach them to hunt, they would gather and howl in the field next door, which gave Wren conniptions. One night she actually howled back – it was the call of the wild! We told her that there was NO WAY she’d be running away to join THAT circus!

Choppy is like Wren – she does NOT like it when the coyotes show up. I haven’t heard ours howl when they are nearby, though – lots of yipping and noise, but no howling. It might be what would get Choppy to howl.

How bad can it be? Oh, wait, random attacks on citizens (namely those living in our house). That’s not going to go over well.

You don’t dress up the cat…much. He’s far too smart for that.

My Molly, the Choppy twin, she grumbles at the mailman every day. She walks over to me, and just grumbles, like she’s mad some crazy hoodlum is in her yard. When he leaves, she goes back to sleep. I guess she feels she still has to do her part to protect and serve. 🙂

So funny! Yes, our golden used to try and push us out of the TV couch at 9 – “time to go to bed!” He’d get very annoyed when we didn’t follow him up the stairs to the bedroom. 🙂

We had a shepherd mix who howled every single time the fire siren went off. There’s a firehouse a few blocks away and they blow the siren to call the volunteers in. It was hysterical! It was the only time she ever did it. When she got elderly she stopped doing it because she could no longer hear it. She passed away in 2009. I haven’t had a dog since. We’ve become cat people.

So funny what sets them off! I don’t recall the dog we had growing up howling, either.
