I remember in college when I would sleep in until noon (or later) on the weekend. Now, I sleep until 7:00 AM (as I did on Day 127) and think it was a late morning. College me does not believe this state of affairs.

I am generally up and doing stuff at 5:00am. I think it is an age thing so you’ll probably get to a 5:00am start eventually! On the plus side, it can make for some very productive days!!!!

Most days I’m now up at 5:30 – so I’m getting close! I hope to be up at 5:00 by next summer. It really does make for productive days. By the time I head off to work, I have usually gotten a couple hours of productivity out of the way – from walking Choppy to blogging to cleaning up.

it is something to do with the teenage brain! I remember those days too, now my children are reliving them for me, I am up with the two youngest, 10 and 11, we spend hours doing things before the teenagers scramble, still half asleep, out of bed somewhere around midday!

It has to be – I’m sure there are teenage exceptions out there, but all the ones I’ve been around can’t be bothered to wake up at an hour I would consider normal!

In total agreement!!! Although our 16 year old daughter used to, she was up with lark always until the last year or so. But I must admit if she has to get up for something, if we are going somewhere she is always out of bed and always smiling, so I can’t complain!

I don’t think any parent of a teenager would complain about that!

Hi Sarah,
Reminds me of my university days, too: sleeping till 9, first classes at 11. I was lucky to have a professor who didn’t want to start classes before 11 am. Well, he usually worked till 5 am. I didn’t work that long, but I could easily work till way after midnight. That remained the same when I had my job [teaching at gigh school level]. I quite frequently worked till (way) after midnight. The only difference from my university days: as a teacher I had to get up at 5:30 am to be at school early enough. Well, I managed even that.
Nowadays my sleeping habits have changed. I usually fall asleepd at around 10 pm at the latest, and sleep till around 7:30 am. That routine seems to fit me very well these days.
Have a wonderful Labour Day,
Pit

I remember a time not that long ago where it was a crazy early night when I was in bed by midnight!
Now, that’s much more normal, then I am up again at 5:30. Thankfully, I don’t need much sleep these days, because those hours would probably not be so easy to keep if I needed the sleep!

After my heart surgery [stent] a year and a half ago I seem to need some more sleep than before. Maybe it’s the medication I’m on. But, being retired, sleeping more is not a problem. 🙂

OMG! I just slept till 9am today!
That is sleeping in huge in my book. Normally up at 4:45. That’s half the day gone 😉

Ha! I’m up at 5:30 most days. I want to move it back to 5:00, because I get so much done during those early hours. I don’t want to waste them!

I understand, me sleeping in till 7:00 indicates the day is already half over. I am usually up around 4-5 AM. Have a wonderful Sunday Sarah.

Exactly! It was a real indulgence to get to 7:00 AM.

Sam and I are morning peeps…it’s the best time of day for Sam to smell new things and I can enjoy seeing fresh dew on flowers. It’s nice and quiet too…another bonus. 😉

Choppy would probably be OK sleeping in a little longer (of course, she sort of does – the first 45 minutes or so of my morning routine she spends sleeping and waiting for the part where she gets to go on her walk!).

Yep, 7 am sounds about right 🙂 You miss the best bit of the day otherwise. 🙂

That’s sleeping in any more! I’m up at 5:30 most days. And working on making that earlier. I am so much more productive in those morning hours than the later ones.

Agh – too early! But I know what you mean; much easier to get things done in the quiet. 🙂

It is! Plus, that early, no one is calling or emailing. I can work on other things for a bit and worry about the work stuff once everyone else starts waking up.

I went to see my alma mater play against University of Washington in Seattle over the Labor Day weekend. Watching all the sleepy eyed college students stumbling into the stadium slightly after the 11:00 am kick-off, brought back memories of those college days of sleeping until noon. In my defence, my sleep schedule was no doubt influenced by the fact that on weekdays I worked until 3:00 am, and on weekends went to work at 3:00 am until 9:00 am. Ah those college days…

And these early season games are maybe even worse, because you’re still excited to be going out with all your friends and it’s so easy to just put off the work until later in the semester so you can stay out until all hours. Ah, college. You were great. And would probably kill me if I tried to go back again.

I get up early in the week, but weekends are for lolling in bed with tea, coffee and newspapers and the cat, but then I stay up till over midnight 🙂 love Choppy’s shadow.

I used to be far more inclined to stay in bed – now, once I get up to do anything (say, let Choppy out), I can’t go back.

I’m the same when Skye sits on my sleeping head to get me up to do breakfast, once that awake I can’t go back.

Schooner is not one for pleasant bed resting, either! He is all about playing and craziness in the morning. Choppy just sleeps until she can’t hold it any more, then she needs you to get up.

My comment is also intended about Choppy’s shadow 😹 Must have been all that bacon!

I am NOT a morning person. So, I will sleep as long as possible, because I don’t go to bed until midnight or after. My normal waking time is around 8 or 8:30, unless I have to be somewhere early. Fortunately, Tippy doesn’t care what time I get up. She’s good either way.

Ha! I am not a sleep person apparently. We go to bed around midnight and I am back up and at ’em around 5:30. And I want to start waking up even earlier!

Good for you. Wish I was like that, but, if I don’t get enough sleep, I’m pretty useless. LOL

I am certainly not going to complain about not needing much sleep (except to maybe say it would be nice to need even less – or have more hours in the day!).

Oh, I definitely need more hours in the day. Wouldn’t that be nice?
