Our pond has spent a lot of time this winter freezing and unfreezing. Thanks to bad weather, I worked from home today, which gave me the opportunity to videotape the pond freezing over yet again. Rather than make you sit through about six hours of real time, here’s the pond (mostly) freezing in about forty seconds.

I’m cold just watching that video! Brrrr…
Love and licks and shivers,

It has gotten much colder since then! The river is now almost entirely frozen as well. Our high tomorrow is supposed to be -3 Fahrenheit. It was downright balmy the day the pond froze (at least compared to tomorrow!).

It really is a great place to live! (Though I could do without the cold many days.)

Hi Sarah. Fascinating … but I had to run it a few times and just focus on the house roof! It is just as fascinating, perhaps more so, than your pond!!!! 🙂

I don’t think you’re alone thinking the roof is fascinating – I have watched it several times just to see that part!

Absolutely brilliant!
And I’m glad that Elf has buggered off too!!

Many thanks! (And we’re happy the Elf is gone, too – if nothing else, the house is a lot cleaner!)

Thanks Sarah, it’s beautiful, but way too cold for someone from California.

And this was the warmer part of winter! It’s much worse now!

Thanks, Sarah, for sharing. 🙂 I don’t think that’s anything we’ll experience here. We did have a couple of cold nights [and days] here, but it’s already getting warmer again.
Have a great week, and stay warm up there,
Pit

We’re trying to stay warm, but the weather has taken a decidedly colder turn. It’s supposed to be -3 Fahrenheit tomorrow. And that’s the high!

I’m glad it never gets that cold where I live. Does Choppy skate on the ice?

I wish it didn’t get cold here…
I don’t recall ever seeing Choppy on the ice. Back in Indiana, it never got cold enough for things to freeze to a degree where I was comfortable letting her get on the ice. And up here, she doesn’t tend to go on it (though I did see some coyotes traipse across the pond the other night). I’ll have to take her out there and see if I can get her to walk across it. Or attempt to, as the case may be!

I hope it doesn’t crack and result in wet Choppy

That she is! I wish I would have gotten a video the next day or two, when the ice floes started coming down the river. I just didn’t think about it, and now it is all very much frozen.

Oh, it was a warmer winter day in that video than it is today – I would like to have those temperatures again! I guess that’s what happens when you live somewhere like Wisconsin – you have to deal with some very cold weather.

That was fantastic, thank you! No ducks, poor little things must be… hibernating? What do they do in all that ice & snow?

I have no idea where the ducks are. I’m guessing they have de-camped for somewhere warmer. We’re headed to Florida in a couple weeks, so perhaps I’ll see some of them there.

Make sure you wave to them or they’ll be hurt 😉

If I forget while I am there, at least I’ll be able to apologize when they come back to Wisconsin after the ice has quacked up.
