Why do I find it embarrassing that Choppy has seen the grand canyon and I have not?

Well, don’t be too embarrassed. My husband hasn’t seen it either. And he has to hear me say things like, “My dog has been to more states than you have” pretty regularly.

Looks like it was a cold and windy day. Choppy is such a worldly pooch!

It was chilly, but not too bad. As for the wind, it could have been worse!

She has been to more states than my husband – and most people, for that matter!

Choppy seems pretty blase about it all.

Until the Grand Canyon starts giving her treats, she will likely remain blase.

A practical canine.

Ah, the Grand Canyon. Lived in Arizona 18 years and took many friends up to visit the Grand Canyon. I love the Southwest and often wished I still lived there. Hope Choppy appreciated being in such a beautiful place.

She was interested in some crows that were hanging out – I don’t think the scenery interested her as much as the other animals did!
This was actually my second visit to the Grand Canyon. I had been years earlier during the very crowded summer season. On this trip with Choppy, it was February and there was hardly anyone at the park. It was so much more fun the second time around – we kept getting amazing views to ourselves. It certainly made quite a different impression than when you are fighting just to see over the edge!

Glad you got to see the canyon in the off season, it is a much more enjoyable time. Back when we lived in Arizona you could drive your car all through the park and not have to take a tour bus. Much better then. The North Rim is actually prettier than the South Rim.

Almost all of the road was open while we were there (including the part where it is tour buses only most of the year) – this was two years ago, so I don’t know if it is still the same, but for a few weeks a year when it is the absolute dead season, they let cars in (probably doesn’t make financial sense to run the buses).

Sarah, you really work Choppy hard…ha ha bet she is the only dog that has gone up to Grand Canyon and took a photo to prove it 🙂 Lucky Gal she is!

It’s certainly not where one expects to see a dog!

Grand Canyon is always so beautiful to me, but Choppy definitely steals the show 😉
