If you read Friday’s post, you know that Choppy and Izzy got to spend the weekend together at my parents’ house. Things did not start off well; I hadn’t even left on Thursday morning and the two of them had already gone to bully the neighbor dog who is stuck on a run. By Thursday afternoon, Izzy had been picked up by a neighbor she and Choppy were “visiting,” necessitating calls to my brother and sister-in-law in Chicago and a retrieval by my less-than-happy mom.

This one only looks like an angel because she is locked on to the deck at my parents' house. Otherwise, she would be torturing the neighbor dogs.

They proceeded to evade her attempts to keep them on the porch before being relegated to the house except under supervision of one of my parents. No one wanted a repeat of Thursday’s shenanigans.

Yesterday, I picked Choppy up late in the afternoon. My parents were headed out for the evening, and I wanted to get her before they left. Choppy happily greeted me at the front door, but Izzy – who had been at my dad’s garden, under his supervision – was suddenly gone.

When she wasn’t back after ten minutes, as my parents prepared to leave, I headed out to find her. I first went out looking in the ATV; Izzy loves the thing and would gladly chase it for hours (this tactic does not work on Choppy, who is decidedly less interested in exercising. The two of us have that in common). When this tactic failed, I moved on to the car.

A quick loop around the few homes near my parents’ house didn’t turn up anything.

And then, I saw a black blur exactly where I had found Choppy and Izzy last Thursday: at the house of the neighbor dog.

Apparently, house arrest had been a good idea.

Does this look like the mug of a dog who needs to be under house arrest? Because it is.
