Happy Friday! I hope that all of you have had a wonderful week and have fun, relaxing weekends ahead of you! Choppy is spending the weekend with her cousin Izzy. As you will read below, the weekend started off horribly/great, depending on whether you ask the people or dogs involved in the incident that got it going.

You can't get to the weekend unless you go to work first. Choppy does not look thrilled at this proposition.

These guys are ready for the weekend.

On Thursday morning, I took Choppy to my parents’ house for the weekend. They are currently taking care of Izzy, my brother and sister-in-law’s dog, so it promises to be a fun (and exhausting) weekend for the two dogs. My parents? Probably going to fall more into the “exhausting weekend” category.

I stayed at my parents’ house briefly before I was due at work, but when I went to leave, there was no Choppy, and no Izzy. My parents live in the country, and the dogs come and go freely. They rarely wander too far, likely because of the numerous woodland creatures who would enjoy a canine snack should one become available. They sometimes visit the neighbors, who are a fair distance away, but a quick shout usually brings them home.

On Thursday? No one came when I called.

So, off I went in the car to see if I could find the two mischief makers. Ten minutes later, I saw them in a neighbor’s yard, torturing the neighbor dog, who was stuck on his run while they ran freely around him.

In related news, apparently Choppy can be a jerk (I would say the same for Izzy, too, but I know who is the jerk when it comes to that pair).

As soon as they saw me, they knew the gig was up; Izzy quickly got in my car. Choppy decided to lie down before she did, because being a jerk is apparently tough work. She did eventually get in the car, and the dogs were returned to my parents’ house, where they will no doubt find more trouble as the weekend progresses. You’re welcome, Mom & Dad!

Does this look like a dog who is remorseful for having just returned from torturing the neighbor dog?

Definitely no remorse. They look pretty darn proud of themselves, if you ask me.

UPDATE: In case you didn’t see it in the comments, the dog shenanigans continue. From my mom (“Grandma”): “Izzy and Choppy are now under house arrest after a second adventure yesterday that ended with Izzy being detained and her owners in Chicago called and Grandma needing to go get Izzy. Frankly, I blame Choppy for the incident. Then just a few minutes ago Choppy broke through the barriers I had constructed to keep them on the deck. They are now confined to the house.”
