Yesterday, I posted a few pictures from my recent trip to Key West (which is, as of today and very sadly, finished). Without further ado, a few more pictures.
It’s a Key West traffic jam. Yes, that is a giant boat going down the street. Yes, that is a random golf cart in front of me. If only the Conch Train, a chicken and a drag queen were somehow involved, it really would be a Key West traffic jam.
The front of the menu from the Key West airport (I flew in and out of the airport over the weekend to attend my sister’s 30th birthday party). As you can see, the airport restaurant features what is, quite possibly, the greatest special on any airport restaurant menu ever.
Sadly, this is a bit difficult to see, but I will attempt to explain. I was sitting on the porch at my little Key West bungalow, which was next to a small restaurant/store combo. The place sold whole coconuts, out of which you could have a drink. They were rather popular. One day, while I was sitting on the porch and writing, a fellow parked in front of my bungalow and got out to get a coconut drink for both himself and his companion. This would be entirely normal, except it was a Buddhist monk, dressed in his full on robes. I surreptitiously took this picture as he was driving off, and you can sort of glimpse him (he’s the driver). It takes a lot to be surprising in Key West, but that definitely was surprising.
Last week was Conch Republic Independence Day. On our way home from supper one night, Choppy and I ran into an Independence Day parade. As you can see, Choppy caught lots of beads, and was thrilled (probably because at that point, she thought we were never, ever leaving. And that would make any dog happy).
