We’re a long way from tomatoes as a gift from the garden here. Then again, it’s not like Choppy wants to eat them whether we have them now or in August. So in her mind, they aren’t a gift whenever they show up.

Such a sweetheart to pose unflinchingly every day. 🙂

And she still gets excited about it most days, which amazes me.

Oh ,Choppy, girl… add some lettuce and bacon to that mater and you’ll see the value!

She’d probably still eat around the tomato (though she would enjoy the bacon and bread).

You say tomato and I say tomato. That doesn’t work in print. 😳

Our tomato plants from seed are still pathetic. However, we do have gooseberries on our bush (even though the are the size of peanuts).

I have some tomatoes on the patio waiting to get planted. They are supposed to go in Paul’s garden, but that is currently underwater. They are going to find temporary homes on the deck until the floodwaters recede.

The ones we bought are doing OK, but our seedlings? pah!

Gooseberries the size of peanuts are intending to grow…much better than NO gooseberries….what a funny word…do you make jam?

No, fruit crumbles! This is the first time we’ve had fruit bushes, so there won’t be that much this year.

Little Gooseberry Fruit Crumbles…oh…yummy! When there’s ‘less’ it makes them extra special & delicious!

I”m hoping these are going to grow up a bit first as they’re not big enough to make a tartlet!

Yea Choppy, I never used to like tomatoes, but now I like them.

I am not a fan of them – I wish I was, but even the fancy heirloom, home-grown ones still taste like tomatoes.

I like the T in a BLT. It adds a little moistness and acidity to the sandwich.

You can have all my tomatoes (at least, the ones Paul doesn’t take first).

Ok…all I need now is a bow and arrow! Where is Robin Hood! A tomato will do instead of an apple! Oh Choppy…you are such a dear, always willing to balance whatever is put on your head. Good woofy you are and talented too! Happy Wednesday!

I should have made her balance something else in addition to the tomato and made it a real challenge for her. This was too easy.

She looks like she is waiting for William Tell to shoot his arrow and isn’t certain that Schooner hasn’t bribed him, if you know what I mean. LOL Seriously, though, there really isn’t anything much better than a home grown, vine ripened tomato. The ones you buy in the store don’t even compare.

I wish I like them! I don’t even like the heirloom, home-grown, should be amazing ones. They still taste like tomato!

You are one of the few people I know who don’t like the amazing homegrown tomatoes. Most of the others I know do love pizza and spaghetti sauce. Do you?

I don’t really eat pizza – though I will have marinara sauce. With all the spices and the like, it’s OK (though I generally don’t eat much of it or ketchup). I’m guessing some of my issue with tomatoes is the texture.

Texture is a big part of a lot of food choices.
