Oh, Choppy. It’s finally YOUR kind of day and all you get is a costume? Where are the baked doggy treats? The homemade baked bacon muffins? I hope you at least got some bacon for your efforts.
Bacon cake sounds divine! Isn’t she sweet in her apron and toque? Is that Schooner checking to make sure the oven is empty before it is turned on? What a team. 😉
Choppy is a super adorable chef! Have you ever watched any of the shows on the cooking channel, like “Iron Chef” or “Guy’s Grocery Games?” I’m sure they have had the chefs use bacon in dessert before. If not, that’s a great idea for the shows. I do think bacon in cake sounds a little bit better than pickled bacon. LOL
I watch far more of those than I should (Chopped being my all-time favorite – Paul and I have done our own, home-versions of the show and Ted once liked a tweet I did on one!). Bacon definitely figures in dessert there.
I hold with the chef.
Bacon is the perfect food, and should be included with every meal.
It can be added to anything with just two exceptions:
Lemon frosting
Crepes (it makes the crepes flat. Cook them first before stuffing with bacon.)
Good call on the crepes. Perhaps I shall have to test them out tomorrow morning (because crepes stuffed with bacon sounds excellent for a Saturday morning).
She is amazing – this morning, she let me balance something on her head that even I thought she might object to (/want to eat). And yet she not only let me balance it there, she let me do several poses until I got it how I liked it! (Picture to come next week.)
Oh come on, she should have the bacon and the box balanced on her head by now!

Well, why not. 😉 Maybe bacon is totally underrated in bakery. 😉

It does go well with a little sweetness, like syrup. Why not in cake?

She looks so proud in her chefs whites – or is that nose in the air simply surreptitiously sniffing that bacon …. 🥓 👩🏻🍳🐾🐾

I am inclined to think it’s the latter!

I’m OK with being barking bonkers! (Clearly – have you seen what I do to my poor dog?)

Poor Choppy – even on days she should be able to enjoy, she is stuck dressing up.

Bacon Surprise Cake! If you bake it in a Bundt pan, you can fill that hollow area in the middle with bacon bits!

He’s actually behind her – you can see a bit of him between Choppy and the oven.

It is Schooner – I think he may have been using his oven check as an excuse to attack the ties on the apron.

Yes, I like Chopped too! Hey, that’s NOT where Choppy got her name, is it?

Nope! It wasn’t even on back then – though it would not have surprised anyone if I had named her after the show. I really do love it.

Horribly. She eats everything before she even gets around to cooking it.
