Last week’s warm temperatures gave way to wind and cold this week – we had several walks where it felt like single digits out there. On the plus side, we banked lots of miles over the summer so when we hit these cold months, we would be able to take shorter walks and not worry about meeting our goal of averaging two miles a day.
I completely forgot to mention this over the weekend, but we were part of Solveig’s Advent Calendar on Sunday! Drop by her blog this morning and check out what fun Advent surprise she has for you today.

Bright-eyed and ready to brave the cold.

The Walks:
Day 583 (December 3 – Home) – Total Mileage: 2.1 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 584 (December 4 – Home) – Total Mileage: 2.1 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 585 (December 5 – Home) – Total Mileage: 1.3 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 586 (December 6 – Home) – Total Mileage: 1.1 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 587 (December 7 – Home) – Total Mileage: 1.3 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 588 (December 8 – Home) – Total Mileage: 2.1 Miles (1 Walk)
Day 589 (December 9 – Home) – Total Mileage: 1.3 Miles (1 Walk)
The Stats:
Weekly Mileage Total: 11.3 Miles (Average: 1.6 Miles/Day)
Year 2 Mileage Total: 598.2 Miles (Average: 2.7 Miles/Day)
Your weekly stats are impressive! I hope I can build up to that quickly. 1 mile for me is a challenge all at once walking 3.5 miles per hour. I would love to be able to walk for 2!

Good luck – once you get there, it feels easy. And sadly, we’re in the bad part of the year for our stats, as our weather turns very, very cold and our walks get shortened. Thankfully, it looks like we have a bit of a warm spell coming up, so we can get out for some nice, long walks.

Choppy looks more than ready but looks like you might be dangling a Porterhouse steak in front of her. 😅

I actually didn’t have anything – she was just hoping I would open the door to the treat cupboard.

I don’t know how you do it. Ted’s walking limit is about a mile and then he just plops.

Choppy is like me when it’s warm – we could walk for hours. Now, when it’s cold? She’s not so keen on the long walks. Her poor paws suffer.

She may have been trying to make me open the door to the treat cupboard.

Not fun! At least the frost should be pretty. Still, I would prefer warmer weather.

Shame Choppy, it must be cold, time for your winter coat and booties.
Seriously though Sarah, her paws must get so cold !

I think the cold bothers her less than the salt on the roads. Thankfully, they don’t salt our street and one of the main places we walk, but it does limit us (I’ve got some balm coming for her feet that should help a little).
