The headwaters of the Colorado River are in Rocky Mountain National Park. Although we didn’t make it to the actual headwaters, we saw the river within a few miles of its starting point. It only bears some resemblance to the big river it will become, but it’s a beautiful river nonetheless.

It was a great place to spend some time. Now, I just need to win the lottery so I can spend more time in places like this.

Very pretty place. It is always interesting to me that a mighty river starts with just a trickle. I think there is a lesson there for all of us.

At first, it didn’t even seem to me that I had the map right – my mind had trouble wrapping itself around the Colorado River as such a small stream.

40 million people rely on the Colorado River from Colorado to the Pacific Coast. Great pics.

It would have been cool to hike to the actual headwaters, but we heard the trail there is basically up the side of a mountain. That did not sound pleasant to us!
